Moving to Vancouver for 10 months (been hired in the olympic organizing commitee)

I'd rather go there on a airplane but i was wondering if I'd regret not having my car to move myself around for 10months?

If i leave my car here (Saturn SL1 2000) i should maybe sell it and buy another one when I come back... but i really like the car and that would really piss me off.

So I should maybe store it somewhere?!?!?... from may to march i really dont know where.

Im really mixed up and have no idea what to do... just give your opinion

ppl savy about moving yourself around in Vancouver plz give info on your experience

Vas-y en auto, la ride en vaut la peine. De cette manière, tu garde ton char et en plus tu peux te déplacer la-bas sans louer de voiture.

I have been to Vancouver several times, have a lot of close family there and know about it.

To be honest with you, after you finish working for the IOC, I would really start thinking of looking for a job (F/T) there and staying put!

It's an amazing province and city, there is little to NO snow, the people are nicer, it's less stressful (especially during the winter) and if you like snowboarding, skiing and the outdoors then you will love it.

Mind you, after leaving Montreal you will notice that the nightlife, restaurants and girls are nothing compared to Montreal.

Just a little advice, don't take your car, stick with the public trans there since it's olympic season.. OR just sell your car and/or buy 1 over there if you can afford. dunno about daily acitivies but the scenery is just out of this world!

I'd either drive there (90% I'd do that if it was me), or go public transit when I get there if I flew. Sell the Saturn if ya can and take the cash to make the trip worthwhile. Rent cars there when you want to go on BC adventures etc etc...

lol i will come back here in march 2010 :p

i was wondering what to do with my car...

Id take it with you. I lived out west for a while and did the drive many times. I also know people that have shipped them there and back if you dont want to do the drive alone.

Its good to have a car out there as things are quite spread appart. Its easy to get back and forth from say whistler to the city by bus or train but i loved having the convenience of a car.

it might be hectic driving around during the olympics, but that's just a small portion of your stay there, I would drive there, you'll have more freedom, and if you want to visit and go places during the weekend and during your time off, it will be much more convenient, and you clearly like your car so that's what I would do if I were you

I've heard too about ppl shipping their car.

That would be on a train.... but it must be damn pricy!! dunno if you could ask them how much it cost em?!?!!??!thx

drive with your car and carry some stuff you want to have while you are there.
its a really nice drive from montreal to vancouver and your gonna be happy to have a car to go around n visit bc while you are there!

lol google maps, mapquest, ... every site provides a route through the USA

Montreal, Toronto, Michigan, ... all the way to seatle then straight up north to Vancouver

1) Buy a plane ticket
2) ship your car by rail (its not that expensive. see the link in my other post)
3) enjoy having a car in BC to cruise around.
4) Rep. me!

Problem solved!

M.
