Even David Dodge broke his silence and couldn't take all the lies being feed to Canadians, the former Governor of the Bank of Canada came out saying Stephen Harper is painting a rosy make believe picture for Canadians !

"I just don't think now — as things have developed between December and March — that one can be quite so sanguine that the world is going to recover quickly," he said. "And if the world doesn't recover quickly, it's very, very difficult to see Canada recovering quickly."

Now they have committed outright to print short term 300billion for long term 30 year t-bills that they couldn't sell on monday. another 800 billion or so of mortgage backed securities....

They are effectively Guaranteeing Hyper-inflation in 9-18 months by monetizing their debt.

Its like you made chairs for a living and after having spent time to make them, pay your rent, pay your materials, pay all your bills....you also decided you would buy the chair...from yourself.

The difference between the 1929 depression and the circumstance now is that the populace is used to a life of luxury and creature comforts while back then they were more spartan and able to adapt. People will be in a worse situation now !

I have faith in myself and few like minded individuals, I don't have faith in most of humanity this much is obvious, they know nothing...they never lived through any hardship, hand to mouth...everything provided and in to the later years paycheck to paycheck with no regards for rainy days or worries fo the future.

I had the privilege of listening to stories of the war and what it took to survive in the face of the nazis and to realise how lucky I was to even be born into this world.

The effort it took to just be able to eat in those times is something that if was recounted would sound like PURE fiction for how horrible it was, and this is when there was ANY food to be had.


If nothing changes, This period we are entering will be known as the "great Culling of humanity".

Many will perish, and the result in the future will be a great reduction of the size of the worlds population.

I hope I am am wrong, but the signs are everywhere, failure to recognize them does not mean they are not happening.

There is no denying that 1-2 years ago people in africa for .25 cents would buy lets say 1 cup of rice.

Today that cup of rice will cost say a dollar.

What will happen to these people who have large families and nothing to prosper from?

the answer is obvious and the future for them self explanatory.

Now the future in the US will look the same.

We are entering a period where droughts around the world has hit a record level and crops are failing everywhere. In the meantime this deflationary cycle has cause prices to plummet, so farmers in the US trying to sell their wheat which cost them 5$ a bushell can only sell it for 3$. Couple this with the fact that no farmers can get loans for fertilizer and other products to sustain them through this season we are heading down a very bleak path as far as food supplies in late 2009 which will go one till 2012. Food prices will explode and food supplies will go through a huge squeeze.

Even if we pay double or triple we can still get by but it will bring down our standard of living, on the othe rhand many around the world will perish because of this.

At 6.7 billion population, the world is already overpopulated. So loss of humanity, sadly, may bring back the proper balance.

I don't believe anyone knows what will happen, certainly not the people on MR. During the depression, governments did nothing and things got worse. Now, they are trying the opposite, will it end the same way no one can say.

However, inflation is lurking, and interest rates of 10-12% may become common practice in the years to come.
 
yep, I suspect higher in certain places.

Also, lets not forget that inflation numbers are not reported as they used to.
These things are critical to assess the situation and the future.

ha. its mostly true. shit i remember (when gas went way up few years ago)
a canadian refinery had a fire..there were shortages of diesal, trucks were waiting at empty gas stations for resupply.
the trucks had our 'everythings' on them. 1 refinery, imagine if 2 went down :run:

*oil heating bill was 3K for the last year & prices went down during part of that!

its here! gas over the last few years (record profits for them),
i also posted an article on here recently about how veg & cereal prices locally had risen 20% over last year!!
anyways we're doing veg garden this year at my famz, or going to try lol

so lets say you have some 5yr gic's coming due that were getting some weak ass'd 5%...
now they're offering what 3%? but everything like food, etc has risen 20% or higher!
thats how inflation can destory & devalue your hard earned money or life savings
and the money you do make (if u still have a job) is worth less at the store
'destruction of the middle class' as lou dobbs & few others are heard saying

wish the 12% payout was here! in the early 90's banks were giving 10% on gic's!!
but that happens when they stop printing money & devaluing everything!
