The actual PUA material works if you really apply yourself, but like a lot of you guys said, its not who you really are. I think the most helpful thing you can do is work on your inner game, your self confidence and self esteem.
I've read a bunch of PUA stuff, but mostly watch seminar videos.. the mystery method, the annihilation method, I've learned a lot of things.. but guys who just memorize scripts usually end up failing anyways. You can read all the books you want and know everything there is to know, but if you're not confident, girls see right through it.
David DeAngello's stuff is probably the most helpful.. it's not so much a systematic process on how to pick up women, he goes into psychology of women, how to naturally be cocky and funny, etc.. he doesn't really tell you what to say, but how to act.. how to build your own confidence and self esteem.
I learned a lot for free, and if you guys think it's bullshit, it really isn't.. I personally would never pay 3 grand, but if you do what these guys tell you, it works.

That's where most guys miss out - they memorize lines and routines... and there are a few problems with this:
1. there is a possibility the girl already heard this stuff
2. She might reply "not by the script" and then you are lost...
3. She feels that you are reading a script and being fake.
... as I mentioned previously, PUA was first started for guys to better themselves. To gain confidence, learn how to dress better, talk better, feel better.
This stuff works but only if you use it to better yourself and not to memorize lines. Find your better self - not FAKE yourself.
Now to all the guys who say "If You Need Someone To Teach You How To Pick Up A Chick - You're A Loser"... funny you say this. Just go to ANY club or bar and you will see the following:
1) 50% of guys just hanging out next to the bar, looking tough, not smiling, trying to seem cool - these guys do not get laid.
2) 40% of guys coming up to girl using a line such as "Come here often?", "Can I Buy You A Drink?", "I'm new to town, can you show me to your place" - now very few of these guys get laid... and rarely.
3) 10% of guys are with a girl (or girls) they smile, they seem to have fun, they get laid. Some of them are successful pick-up artists, some of them are naturals.
... so 90% of guys that go out to hook up with a girl do it wrong, they do need someone to teach them.
