Ok so i was given a 97 corrola and i had to remove the carpet to get to the oxygen sensor on the passenger side yes i could of heated the sensor and remove it while under a car but i don't have a lift and i wanted to see what the floor looks like anyways the balance of the car is really clean.I found some surface rust so i purchased a wire brush for a grinder and cleaned up the rust i then applied rust check then gravel guard. Now i pressurewashed the carpet but the material to make the floor soft that was made of wool i think was falling apart "This is before i washed the carpet lol" I removed it can i replace this with properly cut sports mat from Canadian tire ? Or can this cause a problem is there a better material ?

Yes you can !, but not the sports mat stuff. Instead get commercial carpeting with the rubber backing at Rona, Reno or Home Depot. The OEM carpeting is cheap stuff and is not wool, they are all nylon/acrylic and most don't even have rubber backing and water can penetrate to the floor board and rust it out.
