Ok here comes one of the more important moments in your lifetime . I've been with my girlfriend for more than 6 years , living together for almost 2 years and i've decided to take it to a new level . I'm not that great in proposal ideas , especialy that she's not a romantic type , i need something original and creative , money is not a question but still beeing reasonable . I've search the web for an hour and let me tell you something, the amount of reposts on MR is nothing compared to proposals on the web , there's like 10 different ways of proposing on over 3 000 sites . Thats why help is really needed...
 
You don't have to have the best idea in the world.. you just need to make it special between the two of you.
Usually a memorable spot from the past would be ideal.

Who cares what the woman thinks? The man has much more to lose than the woman. Her opinion on the subject is totally irrelevant as she is most likely envisioning some walt disney fantasy wedding.
 
admiral , nice bike , enjoy your life in anyway you want and i'll enjoy mine in anyway i want , i come from Russia and is in our culture , i'm if 99% of canadian marriages don't work out then stick with your nomarriage.com , i'll just enjoy mines to the fullest
 
Just surprise her. I did it in the craziest of circumstances and she still said yes, after the initial shock if the question.

Exactly. The element of surprise is what's going to make it special. If you bring her to a fancy restaurant on your anniversary she'll probably get a clue so keep it personnalized so it's special to you and her and not half the planet. It's hard to give you advice because we don't know her likes/dislikes so only you know her weakness and work from there.

If you are getting married in canada, living in canada, you are subject to canadian laws.

these laws are 100% geared to protect the woman.

Do what you want, i just hope i never have to say "i told you so"

If the laws protecting women are standing in the way of you getting married, then theres a much bigger issue at hand my friend. Your setting yourself up to failure. Anyways, the overprotection of women pisses the feck out of me too, but it doesnt matter in the end, i dont plan on getting divorced... so if she wants to divorce me in the end, im protected since she's the one that wants out.

Anyways, Be spontaneous, thats the big part, catching her offguard. Depending on what type of woman she is, she might like to have friends\family around at the time, plan accordingly. I proposed to my wife in halloween while we where dressed as pirates... maybe not the most romantic\special thing to do, but it felt right, plus she said yes so.... :p.
 
congrats man ! she doesnt want anyone to be around when it happens thats 100% and she's not romantic so im thinking of a surprise idea but none in my head

Think of something crazy and something romantic and meet it half way.

It may sound stupid, but weed or a few drinks will help your brainstorming. I've surprised the shit out of my girlfriends with weird, spontaneous acts from when I was inebriated..
 
Actually, speaking of which, I'm new to customs...

Can I get into Cuba with a ring without having to claim it or have them find it and blow the surprise?
 
ahaha if you think it that way ... i've spent all my imagination on things to do in bed but not on proposals
 
lol Ironic thing is that I busted out a book I had bought yeeeears ago on this sort of thing, kinda lame but go check out the library for ideas.

I'm just figuring that you'll be somewhat bothered when you think about it years after and realize you took someone's advice from MR on how/where to propose other than your own spontaneous imagination :)


I made a bouquet of roses out of duct tape once.. 2 hours of work = a couple weeks of great sex :)
 
- Go to mcdonald
- Order a poutine
- Put the ring in the poutine
- She eat and she will eventually find the ring (hope she dont eat to fast)
- When she find it, look at her and smile :)


Im not against marriage, but I wont waste my time on it. Good luck to you!

take her to a mountain, make sure her cell phone works, ditch her, more or less like hide and seek, text her with clues to where you are, if and when she finds you she will be pissed until you pop the question(just picture you kneeling by a big fire in the middle of the woods when she finds you), if she doesn't find you and she dies from hunger and the cold......... think of it like you just dodged a bullet and move on to the next.

Probably but I wouldn't do it. When I proposed, my original plan was to propose in Cuba during our vacation, but after speaking with my sister, I didn't do it. Something about an expensive flashy ring in a 3rd world country and attracting unnecessary attention. Catch my drift? I did it at home the day before we left. It made the vacation just as memorable.
