I painted my mags with carquest paint and they have insane crazy orange peel/paint not sticking... I stand them down with 320, repaint and the same thing happens?

after an insane amount of time using can paint, here's what I can tell ya..

after seeing the pics you got up top, you have to use thinner coats of paint, with more time in between to dry..

to be safe, hold the can a good 10 inches AWAY from ur rims, then wait 15-20 mins, then repeat, 2-3 times as needed. but really leave enough time in between and dont spray on too thick and you shouldn't have any problems with the cracks/orange peel.

Your "enamel based" paints are lifting.

Was the paint on your mags original ?, I doubt they are since the OEM mags use powder paint which does not lift.

Best advise is to either strip all the enamel based paint off with lacquer thinner or sand it down. When repainting with your CarQuest paint, apply thin coats within 10 minutes of each other, the longer you wait, you will have a chance of the paint lifting again ! You must finish applying all paint, clearcoat within 30 minutes.

I have re-painted my wheels twice now with great results and I waited 30 minutes between coats. It looks like you didn't wait long enough.
