Hey Everyone,

Certifiable car nut here, stoked to join the MR community. Apologies in advance for not writing in French, as my written French is embarrassingly bad.

I've been in my current ride, a 2006 Legacy GT 5mt, since June 2009, and I love it. Hope to have her for a long, long time. Below are some photos i took of the car over Summer 2009, during a surf trip down to New Hampshire - apologies as they are not the most artistic pics.

Since i took those photos, I've tinted the windows, added some roof crossbars, and added a Jazzy iPod connection. Not exactly high-performance mods, but I'm not much of a racer -- just like driving smoothly and spooling up the turbo whenever I can.

For next Spring, I've been debating putting in a Cobb AP Stage 1 or Stage 2, but I'm skeptical of how it will affect long term reliability and driveability, which are important to me. I've also thought about adding some 18-inch wheels for summer, but given how bad our roads here, I'm thinking i should stick to 17's.

Anyhow, good to join the group and looking forward to learning about the car scene here in MTL.

Cheers,

Dan

Nice car! I think you'll be happy with the Cobb AP, I know I am :) It improves driveability, and has no negative effects on reliability or gas mileage.

Thanks! Good to know you're liking your Cobb AP. Are you at Stage I or II? Is there any noticeable improvement in low-end torque, or does the power still come on around the same time? Also, if you don't mind sharing, where did you have yours installed?

Cheers,

Dan

I cant speak for your generation but my 93 turbo legacy gt was one of the best cars build quality, torque, reliabilit, bulletproof, winter drifter carsI ever owned. Theday before theguy who was buying it, my ex smashed it becausesomedumb assdecided to cuther off and three lanes so as not to miss the exit. Go Subaru :)

Great to hear you had such a good experience with your '93 - I hope I have the same luck with my '06. Sucks about it getting smashed up before the sale - hope your ex was alright.

ya ex was totally fine, airbag saved her :) but these cars are as good if not better than the German AWD cars, Audi is great though, then BMW then Benz with 4matic. Subaru is superior in my openion though because you rarely feel power transition of the 4 wheels, As far as winter goes, a good set of Nokians and nothing will stop you.

Yeah, i was definitely sold on Subaru's AWD and reputation for reliability. I did consider some used Audi and BMW wagons (A4 3.2/2.0t, X3, 328xiT), but aside from being way more expensive to buy, the costly maintenance, especially on a used Audi, was going to put me in the poor house -- but i admit i was very tempted by the '06 3.2L S-line avant i tested; beautiful car and that 3.2L is a blast. But the Legacy GT really brings so much to the table - I especially like that the Subaru is a bit more rugged than the Germans, so i can throw my dirty gear in the back and not worry too much about ruining the paint or the interior.
