G-tech

I own one, I lost one.

Seriously though it works well. I would use it more as a measure for hp gain than outright performance. The 1/4 is supposed to be accurate to .1 sec. It has a couple of cool features like hp reading, 0-60 mph, 1/4 mile with trap speed, 60-0 mph distance and lateral g's. I would recommend it to any/everyone!

Re: G-tech

I bought one when they first came out, about 4 years ago. Yeah, they're OK. A tiny bit generous on the quarter ET ridiculous on the trap speed. It gives you a 0-60MPH figure also. Also, there's an HP estimate that use the weight of the car you entered + the acceleration to give you an HP figure. You also get the braking distance from 60-0 and G figures for estimating latteral accel.

To be frank, I rarely use mine, I mean where can you make a clean 1/4 mile pass on a public highway? But like the other said, it's OK to compare your car before and after a mod...

Re: G-tech

Nothing replaces 1320ft times !!!!!
I mean 1/4 mile!!!!!!!
Its a gadget !!!!!!!

Re: G-tech

I did a run at napier ville with the G-tech and the times were almost Identical, the mph was off by 2 though!
i think it is a coll gadget so I use my friends but I don't think that I would buy one.

It's really good for getting estimates of new parts. Worth the $200.

the reason mph is faster on a g tech is because it takes your exact trap speed, where as at the track you trap speed is an average of your last 60ft. well thats what it says in the instructions.

I didn't realize you could road horsepower with a stop watch...mine doesn't do that!! Damn Tag Heuyers....
later g's too? How about 60-0 distance? Humm...

Re: G-tech

It gives you an HP "estimate" at the wheels but who said it was precise? ;)

Actually, I tried it with my stock Cavi (since the Talon isn't exactly stock) and surprise, surprise, it gave me around 120WHP, really close to the stock 140 at the crank... But for a high HP car (well, higher tan 140) that squats and dive when you accelerate, I dunno...

About that trap speed, I understand that at the strip, you get an average of the last 60 foot, but mine was off by something like 5MPH. So, if the Gtech says 125, but the drag strip says 120, that means I went from 115 to 125 in 60 feet? I don't feel like playing with numbers, but you can see it's overly generous.

Still, it's a fun toy! As long as you don't start quoting the Gtech numbers as your official ET...

Re: G-tech

I find the g-tech most useful for comparisson purposes. Test your car stock and find out it's measured hp. Install a performance part and check it again. If there is no difference, bring the piece back!!

Re: G-tech

100% d'accord!

The only problem is that sometimes, weather can affect performance more than a mild mod...

Re: G-tech
