fine. guess i'll have to prove it.

HDD: we all know SSD > HDD for speed.

sure, you have 2gb of ram in the base $999 model but for what 99% of people do with their macs they would never notice a difference between 4gb and 2gb.

so there's your proof.

I never insulted your price or anything. i just made a comment on how the 11inch macbook air outperforms your macbook pro and you took it as an attack on your post.
but it's an 11 inch, with a 64gb SSD, and no CD drive. so if someone absolutly wants a Macbook with a bigger hard drive, a CD drive, and a bigger screen then they might actually consider your macbook since the price is pretty much on par with what people are willing to pay for it.

Very good research, but what about the rest?

Screen size: 11in vs 13in, you want 13in? That's 1299$

2gb vs 4gb not noticeable?!? Have you ever used Illustrator or Photoshop or Lightroom? But then again, a stick of 4gb SODIMM ram is only ~35$, so you can buy it and swap it.. oh wait, can you upgrade ram on a macbook air? NO. You want 4gb of ram? get the 1199$ model. I have 1 available slot, so you can add another 4gb which bumps it up to 8gb. 2gb is good for safari, chrome and youtube. You'll go nowhere with 2gb if you want Adobe/iWorks/iLife.

i admit SSD is faster than HDD. But are you for real? 64gb vs 500gb?! You have a blazing fast machine, but with 64gb, you can't install much. I have Adobe CS5, iWork, and iLife installed along with Lion and i have ~100gb used. This doesn't even include the RAW pictures which are stored elsewhere. So frankly, 64gb is a joke. unless its a 64gb usb key, that's epic.

It's a small detail, but you don't have a super drive. that's another 80$.

So basically, all I'm saying:

If you want to spend 1235$ (+super drive + tax in) for a mac to surf the web, watch youtube, impress girls with your cool macbook air, follow my buddy's advice.

If you want to spend 820$ (tax in also! heck i'll throw in the built in superdrive for free) for a mac that can do all of the above and more, and impress girls (and get laid maybe) by buying them stuff with the 400$ you saved, then PM me.

Oh, and stop trolling my thread. Good day to you sir.

It wasn't me brah. It's Malenurse that doesn't like you trolling my thread. At least you are admitting of comparing Apples (no pun intended) to Oranges.

my bad. forgot who started the thread in the first place.

look this got blown out of proportion. i simply stated that today's air out performs 09 MBPs (in most cases), you called bullshit, i showed you proof. i am totally aware they are difference sizes and all that but i was just comparing brute performance. you can't say i'm wrong.

simply put, if someone needs a 13 inch(11 inch macbook air has a higher resolution lulz), with a cd drive, and the extra ram (although in the air the better cpu and SSD would make up for lack of ram in real world scenarios i'm sure) then by all means. your price is fair.
