Anybody on this board own a Prelude (97-01), if so, what mods did you do to it?

I'm curious to know, since I have no clue about what to modify on mine.

And for those who say, do a search, I did, I found mostly body modifications, which I'm not doing to my car.

you could turbo it....then it wold be crazy...or just put and exhaust.cold air you know the normal shit....suspension is good too...these cars are so heavy i find they have good handling stock, so on a good suspension its even more fun....jsut keep the body clean preludes are really nice the way they are

ya stick to an OEM.. or wingwest rs akirt kit.. dont insult are ludes with big flashy kits:)
well i just got it a few months ago so im working like crazy until spring to put a CAI.. headers high flow cat.. muffler and a few N/A extras like cam gears.. then turbo.. cuz my friends lude is amazing turbo + vtec is insane!

So far, I got a GReddy EVo catback in mind and an AEM V2 for it.

Skirt kit, I have the oem one, which is off right now. (Winter)

I put the SE mags, I find them nicer.

And I was thinking of supercharging it for the spring.

I also wanted to put a screen in it, and all those stuff again, like what I did to my old car, but I find the stock sound system good enough.

Teg969 why should I modify the suspension on it?

well prelude suspensions are usually good, and handle well...but my friend has one and we jsut changed the springs on it to lower it a bit...and the difference was Great, so i imagine that with a full kit it must hadle pretty dam good too
it was just IMO!
good luck

What kind of Prelude does your friend have, the SE or SH?

I doubt my car has 4ws

I know I have ATTS and the SH stands for suspension and handling, correct me if I'm wrong on this.

ok so i was actually debating this with my friend cuz he was telling me that 97-01 ludes have something special
so its prolly the ATTS
4ws is the old ones right?

EDIT: i mean the SH 97-01's have somethign special

The difference between the SE and the SH is the ATTS, the suspension and the mags.

4ws steering are on the 88 Prelude's.

What's the difference with SE and SR though?

The Active Torque Transfer System is designed to give the Prelude rear-wheel drive cornering ability, while retaining the wet-weather benefits of a traditional front-wheel drive car. The system works by monitoring the car's speed, steering angle and yaw rate to determine the if car is following the driver's intended course. In a tight, fast corner the system works by increasing torque to the outboard front wheel, which in turn increases the vehicle's yaw rate, giving the driver better steering response. Basically, it neutralizes understeer for those times when the corners get a little too tight.

dont super drive ur car.. it would be the stupidest idea to do that with VTEC.. turbo and VTEC is a nice way to give it a boost..a v2 woudnt hurt to ur greddy.. but its 1 step follows the other.. make it flow nicly the whole way to ur exhaust.. headers .. high flow cat

Don't you have a turbo teg? Which is better than a prelude :)
well its still not a prelude, those cars are so nice on the outside and the inside, i would trade my car for one of them any day, plus they are decently fast also, in all ludes are great cars

So far I have:
Tom's CAI
Remus Exhaust
H&R Sport Springs (1.4 in drop)
17" Motegi Mags
F/R Upper Strut Bars
Anodized Cross Drilled Rotors
Semi-Metalic Brake Pads

The lowered suspension makes a bid difference in handeling specially on long hard turns. I'm sue that upgrading to aftermarket shocks will also make a big difference and further improve handling even more.

Keke, how do you find the Lightened Flywheel? Is the improvement in performance worth the deterioration in drivability, if any?

Also has anyone done any engine work as in Port and Polish or milling the Head? I've head that on the H22 a lot of ponies can be freed up by engine work.

Also for the guys with the Turbo ludes, how has reliabilty been afected? From the many posts about Turboing ludes on www.preludeonline.com it seems that about 50% of turbo owners damage their engines in some way if the internals are not replaced. Same goes for Supercharged preludes as well. Any comments?
