Well I just bought a 1999 acura 1.6EL. I plan on riding out this 1.6 for a while, but eventually I plan on swapping in something I can have a little more fun with. So it wouldn't hurt to start doing my homework now.

Now I can get a b18c1 with ~90k miles in there for 3k flat, swap/engine, everything included.

I was wondering if perhaps would it be better and cheaper to get a b16a (any series, as long as it's in good condition)? By better I mean:

-Cost
-Potential

The GSR engine has a bit more punch, but is it worth it for the extra coin?

Thanks! This would be my first swap for any car, so all information would be nice. While I will not be doing the swap myself I plan on watching it get done and learn a bit in the process... And maybe one day do one myself!

I would go GS-R but for the same price you probably could get one with an lsd tranny from JDM shop.

If you're gonna boost it, go with a B16A or even better a B18B (lower compression). If not, then go with a B18C1 or even a B18C5 if you can afford it.

H22 your EL man, awsome motor, but if its between the B16 or the B18, do the B18. I've got a B16A in my 99 coupe civic and its pretty slow. Its fun but only on the highway where you can actually use the high rpm's. There is noooo torque. A b18c1 leaves you the option with doing a type R head or something. But look into H22's. Might be a good option.

Thanks for the advice. I was pretty much already decided on the GSR, but now I just need to save up a bit more (and pay some tickets -.-)
