Une étudiante de la Montérégie dont la vie a été ruinée en novembre 2006 par un automobiliste qui faisait un excès de vitesse, est morte samedi dernier, à l'âge de 31 ans. Patricia Jolicoeur s'apprêtait à rentrer chez elle après une marche avec son chien, à Saint-Lazare, lorsqu'une voiture circulant à haute vitesse l'a frappée. L'automobiliste fautif, Edward Hakim, qui était âgé de 19 ans, a projeté Mme Jolicoeur sur une distance de plus de 13 mètres et a poursuivi sa route, sans s'arrêter.

Patricia Jolicoeur a subi de multiples fractures crâniennes et a été plongée dans le coma pendant un mois et demi. Elle a par la suite vécu de multiples souffrances en raison de son piètre état cérébral, jusqu'à son décès.

La tragédie qui a fait basculer la vie de la jeune femme a incité ses concitoyens de Saint-Lazare à mener une campagne contre la vitesse excessive.

J'espère que ce sera un réveil brutal pour tout le monde sur les dangers de la conduite d'un véhicule. Lorsque vous prenez le volant, prendre le danger au sérieux et ne jamais courser sur la rue. RIP.

Patricia Jolicoeur, the victim of an accident involving a case of streetracing in St-Lazare died last Saturday. The accident happened in Nov 2006 when she was out walking her dog. The incident sparked a huge campaign around the town with many residents posting signs on their lawn that read "Slow down for Patricia". Patricia had been living with the severe injuries sustained from the accident but finally passed away Sat.

Please let this be a wake up call to everyone about the dangers of driving a vehicle. When you get behind the wheel, take the danger seriously and for God sake's don't ever race on the street. RIP.

My gf works at intensive care, she tells me stories like this happen way too often...
 
Racing/ripping it on residential streets = bad news bears

Less highway patrols and more cops in neighbourhoods imo.
Driving 140 on the highway on a nice summer night ain't gonna hurt anyone, but driving 90 in a 50 with houses around very well might
 
i say no fucking cops on highways only in the street man

I don't even think its that, I don't think the people who orchestrate the police force are intelligent enough to understand how to enhance road securitahs without pissing people off
 
My best friend died in high speed street racing accident, RIP to all of them... thing is simple. DONT RACE OR SPEED OVER THE LIMITS ON PUBLIC ROADS.... jusqu'a ce qu'on perdre qqun de précieux de la facon, ya pas grand chose qui nous réveille, c'est domage mais j'ai perdu beaucoup ce jour la, ma passion ne s'est terminé mais aujourd'hui je le vois dans ma tete tout les jours en passant a ce qui est arrivé, je lève le pied et je pris pour lui.
 
Pauvre fille.....2 fois, faut pas être chanceuse. J'espère ques les sanctions seront très sévèrent. Condoléance à la famille....
