    My Hip Hop productions

    Ive been making some beats in my free time and never really made anyone listen to them, so I thought maybe it was time...

    Check out my SoundCloud and my facebook if you want to help me out.

    I'd love feedback on what you guys think about my beats. I don't know anyone that raps so its all instrumental for now...

    Share if you like it!

    Cheers!

    You've got a solid groove down, nice sampling, I just don't like the generic sound of your drum kit, The snare bothers me. Try looking into getting some better sample packs maybe? Other then that I like.

    Youtube has mass amounts of video's on tips, practice practice practice - you can't get enough of this, also start learning chords/scales - Google chords/scale charts under images and save some charts it helps, learn them everyday and practice them, eventually you'll have a bunch of them down by heart.

    The track is good btw but ridiculously repetitive. I guess it would be different if a lyricist was on it though.

    You should also try using torrents for better sounds, I know nothing about ableton so I don't know if it's able to use VST's or not but if it does there's tons out there. Absolutely ridiculous amount of drum kits too.

    I did a little demo to show you, my main kick is layered by 2 kicks, one top kick (the one you hear clicking, and you take the attack of that kick without release) and one bottom ( the kick you hear bass, no attack with only release), and you compress each kick and compress it after in a bus channel

    Its sound stupid, but its hard to make a kick pump with the bass (once you got that, you are in the pro level)

    u need to put some life in ur music with percs, hi-hats and better drum line. I know ur using programs to make the beats but get urself a midi keyboard to at least make the drums feel like they're being played by a human.

    u also need to vary ur sequences. have a bridge b4 the chorus. remember;

    main =16 bars
    hook = 4 bar
    intro/outro =2-8 bars

    have fun making musik

    I used to randomize my drums and add vinyl grit to the samples so it gave an old school flavor to beats that used modern samples. Depends on what you want though.

    I'll look into that! At the moment I use LFOs to randomize the drum hits, is there a better way?
