I'll just put this out there.. probably one of the few that can.

275 000 K's Turbo, and still rolling on Pennzoil 10w30 non-synthetic, every 5k, runs like a champ!

I'm considering switching to synthetic, but the cars been on normal oil so long, i'm scared.

in my beater civic i had for 2 weeks, i topped it up with old oil from the volvo after 5K...

i like castrol high mileage for my DD...went 1 time at a garage for oil change...put some 5w30 mopar shit in my vw...oil check was always on... car was getting hot as fuuu...lol never went back to a garage for an oil change :p

Found this article, I use Total (Elf) 5w40

^That's interesting, cause I am actually looking for the right oil for my car at the moment. It has the 50200 VW recall for sludge and these are the recommended oils I have to chose from that meet the recall bulletin:

http://pics.tdiclub.com/data/529/Audi_Approved_Oil_Chart.pdf

Now the car has had Gulf Formula G 5w40 in it which meets the requirements but that stuff does not sell anywhere around where I live... So I am basically wondering what oil could/should be best to meet the 50200 bulletin for sludge, leave as little carbon deposit as possible if turbo heat soaked and well provide best lubrication...

Fuzz, do you guys sell Gulf @ PerryAuto and what would you recommend? Engine in question is 1.8t

You should add Amsoil to your poll.
They're almost the only company to share their tests results and data.
You can find some Motul data but it's hard to find.

I run both Amsoil and Motul in all my engines. You can buy Amsoil XL for 6$ a quart online with the preferred membership.
I had a 458000km Civic VX, a 405000km civic SIR and both were top shape. No oil consumption, no sludge and the 3 oil analysis I did were perfect on Amsoil.
That's why I can claim I like Amsoil the best
