Unfortunately thanks to Barrett Jackson you can't even buy most of those cars from people who own anything muscle related.. because they want 200k for destroyed heap that once resembled a Mopar or Corvette. Or better yet won't sell it because they plan to restore it.. meanwhile it's been sitting in the same spot for 30 years.

These days with reproduction shells available with actual factory serial numbers (Camaro, Mustang etc) it's not worth buying a rotted out heap and fixing it. Might as well by a clean, straight and modern shell.

I've seen a few heartbreakers in my scrapping excursions.. Will try to find the pictures of the chevy graveyard we're working on.

Wrong, an original car will always be more desirable.

When you say "It's not worth buying" you are wrong. It's a bad idea to you and me, but it's worth it to most collectors out there. Most cars in this state are argued over and bought by guys that restore them for twice the price they are actually worth to drive them and not to sell them on BJ because they would never be able to sell them for half the money it cost to restore them.

What you see on BJ is a tiny portion of what the market is, and what they show on TV is a tiny portion of all the auctions that take place there.

If you are in the market for an old car, you know this, if not, then you think BJ is real life and is actually influencing the market. Speculation does bring some prices up but not enough to drive you out of your dream car.

About the cars that are rotting in the woods : A lot of time, when the owner dies, the kids have everything evaluated for succession and they are the ones who put them up for sale so if you stick around for long enough, everything is possible.
