Subaru BRZ getting a bad review...

i test drove a 2011 wrx with 265hp, a 2011 sti, they both felt slow and heavy and unexciting, despite all that power. They ran out of steam at high rpm.

a 2011 mustang gt was just so much more fun, enjoyable and better sounding, not to mention faster. i no longer envy subaru owners since the only one ive ever enjoyed is a gc8 with a jdm sti swap and tons of suspension mods

200hp civic and golf are nothing to write home about

trollingORstupid ??

The problem is, I repeat, that people are expecting early 90's cars' souls in new cars. It was 20 years ago. Get over it and adapt to the new performance definition. Essentially, you are now acting exactly like your parents who you used to argue with about muscle cars being "real" cars versus what was new to you (early 90's imports).

I HAVE driven the FR-S and can tell you that it does handle great, the throttle response IS present and that even the paddle-shift automatic transmission is quick and precise. You can bounce it off the redline and drift in it just like a 5/6 speed. While it could make due with a little more power, you could simply strip the whole thing, slap on an intake and exhaust and get a better power/weight ratio.

Weight has not ruined everything, people have because cars are made for the masses and the masses want automatic boats to lug their huge asses around. The small automotive enthusiast community does not make the auto industry run, fat lazy people with money do.

In the proper sense of the term, yes, you are right. But the paddle shift auto transmission is so quick and precise, it gets called that way. My bad for using slang.

No one, besides you and maybe sales people who don't know anything about anything, would call it a DSG.

Well hey, if you wanna answer like a douche about it, I'll edit my post to make your highness happy. Do you correct people who use the term "tiptronic" as well?

Tiptronic is at least still an automatic.

DSG isn't even an automatic transmission.

This is a great comparison of the BRZ and refreshed 2013 Mustang. Hopefully, some will understand the difference.

fixed, but your point is very good.

While I do agree that the video review is full of shit for all of the reasons listed in this thread, the Subaru does look like it understeers a LOT... Kinda like any stock Legacy... lol

^Well I mean I've obviously never driven one, but look at parts of the video from the camera mounted on the front bumper. I can REALLY relate that to winter driving my Legacy when you don't know how to tame that shit.

you forgot the weights of said vehicles.

making it barely faster than a miata, and much slower than the s2k (which is not fast to begin with)

You're complaining about a 2700lb car and praising a 3600lb car.....not sure if srs

What exactly are you trying to get to, lateapex? okay, so the Mustang is a TINY bit faster on a medium to fast track, but here in Quebec, most of the ones who actually DO track their cars, hit the slower tracks. Most of us also like the fact of being able to drive the car for more than 5 years without it falling to pieces. At the very least (from your apparent point of view anyways) the Scion(Toyota) is a quality product and will hold its value and has build quality. This is completely leaving aside the looks of the car, which albeit are different for everyone, but the FR-S is much better looking (my opinion). To reiterate my previous statement: regardless of all that's been said, you're judging a car you haven't driven yet, and I'll be dammed if the Mustang is even half as fun to drive as the FR-S.
