Jetta 2012 unlocking question

Ok so heres the thing...

When i put my hand behind the driver door handle, it unlocks only that door.
When i put my hand behind the passenger door handle it unlocks all 4 doors.

1st how fucking stupid is that shit?

My father in law got his reprogramed at the dealer so the driver handle unlocks everything, but got charged for it.

Any way i can do this myself?

I went in the settings of the computer and changed. It's in the conveniance pck or something like that on the screen in the between the cluster. under unlock you choose all doors or just front or just driver.

Could you list the steps to get to it?

Do i need a laptop with cable?

Hey sorry forgot about this thread. I used the menu on the conveniance menu on the dash un central lock or something similar. Let me go check in the car.
