Do a search on 4btswaps.com, pirate4x4.com/forum and the diesel swap section of dieselbombers.com. There's a lot of info for an eventual 4bt swap.
For an asphalt/gravel Jeep, a 4BT is the perfect candidate for a diesel swap. They are bulletproof, get awesome fuel economy if kept stock, can be built into a torque-monster/parts-breaker and are easily troubleshot(Crank but no start=no fuel, no crank=no juice).
But they are heavy, not throttle-happy at all(defuels at 2500RPM, redline around 2600RPM), pricey and heavy. Did I mention they are heavy? Around 2 small blocks heavy.
As for the Detroit 6.5L, they're not worth the hassle. If you're in the game for a diesel swap, dont cut corners with a mediocre engine.
