I hated gyms... until now...

I used to train when I was in university with my friends and trained alone after, but never enjoyed it and would always stop going after a few months. I thought it took too much time for so little results... until now!

Friend of mine took me to a bootcamp. I love it because it's really quick and intense.

I really wish I had found this before! Shameless plug: www.studioepix.com

I didn't change what I eat, I go there 2-3 times a week, lost 15 pounds in 5 weeks, muscles are more defined as well.

Anyone else here do bootcamp/crossfit?

Inb4 bashing coming

Edit : crossfit or, the ability to loose gainz

No, its just common knowledge that people who do crossfit can'T STFU about it. There is a pretty big thread in OT about that.

Oh! Just like muscle boys who keeps talking about how much they bench and how many egg whites they eat and their fucking shakes and suplements?

Crossfit looks stupid as fuck imo lol. But if you found something you enjoy... Wtv.. Enjoy it! Just be careful, don't fuck around and injure yourself or do the exercises you think are dumb (you will see a lot of those). Also, don't go ham on kipping pullups, you can rip the skin of your hands. No good.

Personally, I don't even see the pulling in the kipping lol. So I would say 1 real pullup is better than any amount of kipping pullups. Unless you're trying to rip your hands open... In that case, kipping might be better lol

I've been crossfitting for at least a year and as far as comparing to going to the gym, it is night and day! I was like you and didn't necessarily enjoy going to the gym. I saw some results but I could never get super happy about going to the gym.

Crossfit changed all that! Have I drank the kool aid? To a certain extent. I don't like to bother ppl and talk about it all the time but if you ask me a question on it be prepared to hear about it for a while... I feel as though crossfit mimics hockey intensity pretty well and I really enjoy that having played hockey all my life!

I haven't reach the strength I had when I was working out but I feel in better overall shape. It definitely shows during ball hockey.

Kipping allows you to maximize your movements in a certain amount of time. When we do "strength training" I make sure to do strict pull-ups at all times because I'm aware that kipping pull-ups are not as difficult. As for butterflies, I have not ventured that way as I don't think I have strong enough shoulders yet to link butterfly pull-ups and keep my shoulder under tension. People hate on the movement but for what Crossfit is intended to do (max rep for time or fastest time for a certain amount of rep), these two different techniques are good as long as the person doing it does it the right way.

I've only ripped my hands about 2-3 times in a year...just gotta be smart about it and take care of your hands...

As for people bashing the olympic lift teaching and generalizing, that's never going to change. There are good coaches and bad coaches just like you'll have in any other discipline... I've seen personal trainers in regular gyms and I would rather not work out than listen to their so-called expert advice. But then again, people will never know unless they try it but it is easier to just bash the discipline and have tunnel vision...
