really looking into a MB car... but seams as though hard to find info on!!!

color me surprised :p still, looks way bigger... for some reason... :p man... most people that owned one seem not to have had a good experience... as for telling me to buy an r32... I just said I'd be okay with the acceleration of a 2cv... you realize what a 2cv is right?

this is a 2cv
S7-modele--citroen-2cv.jpg

it does 0-100 in 27 seconds... 27... do you really thing I would go for an r32... on a m model bmw... plus that year model was nice looking.. in 1995... that's almost 20 years ago... and has nothing of a classic look... so It looked good for 5 years... and will never look good anymore.

having said all that... still thinking about it... any clue about the 1.8? is it even availabl in the 2005+ model and fully equiped?

I will say it again DONT BUY THOSE i own mine for five years from 50k to 160k and had transmission issues, oil in engine harness ( common on these model major recall in US but not in Canada) broken sway bar too ^^ oil consumption many electronics problems (radio, door lock, power window. air bag, seat belt...) and rust. Oh A/C was great cold and powerful.

Not sure if serious... I said R32 Golf in regards of your A3 comment...

The c230 is a p.o.s. event he sedan is garbage and feels cheap as funk...
If you're still not convinced, go see one in person, leave a deposit and go for a test drive, feel it good inside and you'll see for yourself. It's a shame mercedes dropped that bomb on the world.

Too bad they have not offered this engine combo to at least make the car better (coupe talk)

Anyway, you seem to really want that model, just be conscious of the fact that you were warned, and please start wrenching yourself and become a member of Mb World and Benz World right away, buy a proper metric set and trim removal tools.

trust me when I say: a v12 6.0 is a better investement than a c230kompressor

plus with a few bucks invested you can get that ''Pagani Zonda sound'' mod

dammit... guess I'll listen to you guys... seen many pleased people on car review sites... but the ones that weren't pleased, weren't please AS FUARK!!!... dammit... now what? what HB could give me the same options for about the same cost? really loved the look of it too... :( especially the cluster... for 2005+ models, really hated the pre 2005 model)

Like I said, find yourself a clean Mazda 3 Sport GT, they came very well equipped, very modern interior also (for a 05-06 compact). Interior is miles ahead of that C-Class coupe IMO.

the C30 is a good option as well but the interior is more old-school.

The C30 seems like a nice option. It's too bad BMW dropped the 318TI so early here (they got the E46 TI in Europe), it was really a nice drive.

The C30 isn't old school at all, it's scandinavian's finesse at it's best. And although the trunk is small, the rear seats aren't that bad for a coupe.
I was looking at the S40 and they are quite cheap now, but I guess the maintenance cost is on the high side (especially for a reworked Focus).

maintenance is the same as a Volvo 850 or anything with the T5 engine, timing belt with waterpump and tensionner will run ya 550-700$ and 250$ if you do the labor yourself, you just need the Camshaft locker tool (to prevent the cams from moving).

it's litteraly the same engine as the 2.3L turbo 5cyl 20valve from 1994, just .2L bigger after 2001.

maintenance becomes higher on those platforms when they are AWD, obviously double the axles, add a t-case and driveshaft etc etc etc.

I do not see the old school in here....

There are also the non turbo engines, which may be easier to maintain. But I think that the S40/C30 share their chassis with the Mazda 3 and Focus no? I don't know if it means it's cheaper to maintain (suspension and direction parts) than a bigger Volvo or if doesn't change much?! I undestand that a T5 AWD is quite more expensive than a NA FWD to maintain.

c30 chassis is shared with Mazda 3 indeed, but they are O.G. Volvo bodies, it's just that Ford took a lot of them, like S80 / Ford Fusion per example.

It doesn't change much suspension, steering, brake wise, but if you have a fine euro supplier or a friend who deals with WorldPac your parts will be quality and cheap.

AutoLectra is a great source as well. (514-342-1044)

Turbo isn't much more maintenance, just breathes more, so filter needs to be changed a bit more often, oil needs to be religiously changed (imo on every car) and you gotta be ready to rebuild it after 200 000km. But the added power is quite pleasant.

A good tune / intake /proper fuel will get you to the 300hp ;)

I always wanted to have a Swedish fun to drive car I love Saab and Volvo(I don't know exactly why! Mostly because they are a bit rare, I don't like having cars that are too common) but I am a bit scared of their reliability and cost of ownership mostly because I don't want to be screwed with mechanics (I was when I was owning Germans cars) now I am a bit more experienced with cars and basics mechanics skills and since I been owning an American car, I never had a too big to handle problem (except a coolant leak but I have found a reliable GM mechanic since then...but know that my AT start to acting up, I am looking for a replacement) I feel like that If I finally find a reliable Swedish cars specialist that can check the car before I buy it and confirm that it's will be somewhat reliable and not have big mechanical failures in the near future. Find a place that can have all the parts if I need to (rockauto maybe?) I would totally give Swedish cars a try

OP is looking for a base 2005 C230 and claims to be ok with a Citroen 2CV performance. If he'd be looking at the C30, be sure it would be a 2005 ish base model C30 not a 2011 C30 T5 R-Design.

Compare the interior of a Mazda 3 GT and a base C30, the C30 is by far the more conservative (which is what I meant by old school) design. From the green illumination to the central console layout and buttons to the very simple gauges.
