Stop the Spectrum from being destroyed. (Montreal needs your help inside)

Hello Montreal!


I invite you to sign a petition against the destruction of the
Montreal's Spectrum.
This place is at the crossroads of Montreal's cultural life,
it will be destroyed in August after the Francofolies festival. The

developper SIDEV will build a 15 story tower and a large retail store (Best Buy).
The owner of the lease Équipe Spectra admit they do not have the kind of
money to build a new one. This showroom, in the heart of the city, made for a

long time the spirit of the festivals which have put Montreal on the
map.
This event center is unique, it is ideal for intimates concerts, these
shows we feel so close to the artist, we keep unforgetable memories

about.
The city could refuse to deliver the destruction permit if this
petition reach enough people.

Signed. And I never sign those, usually, but I have good memories of the place - that and it is an Icon of Montreal.
 
Never been inside except the entrance ( cause I was buying some tickets)..
Why are they changing montreal so much? from removing the well known street name ( parc avenue), to selling the expos to destroying the spectrum....

what is up with that?:dunno:
 
This is the reason why things never change in montreal, save this save that, no changes...guys we need to move on! look at NEW YORK for example.

It's like the project of the casino of montreal. Guy Laliberte could have brought us something quite amazing but no...petitions got into the way.

if a place like the spectrum is that much needed, someone will build a new one somewhere else.

Can't always live in the past
 
there's still tons of other venues. i've prolly only seen 2 shows at spectrum, and i've still been to a ton of concerts. they just never end up there. metropolis is the main one, and other than spectrum, which is smaller, there's still a ton of other venues of the same capacity around. so whatever.

only thing it has going for it is that it was on the cover of the millencolin album a few years ago.
 
spectrum is small, old and in need of major renovations.

And it's not in a patrimonial building, nor in a building with any architectural value.
 
Le spectrum c'est une place vraiment médriocre je trouve. Oui j'ai vue des shows malades là mais c'était pas pour la place mais bien el show. Je trouve l'endroit dégeulasse et surtout très mal entretenu. Je serais pour qui le laisse là mais si y veulent pas mettre d'argent c'est une question de quelques années avant que ca soit condamné selon moi.

Un bon coup de pinceau et un peu de rénovation ça lui redonnerait vraiment de l'allure et ça voudrait la peine.
