what i did last summer
tint the windows.
drop it with a good suspension
fix some rust spot
installed a good radio with pretty good speakers
change the coilpack and wiring and plugs
and that was about it
next summer will come more when the cash starts flowing in now that i am finish university and working for real (soon soon )

So Far the Mods I have on my car is the Chrome Package (Bumper, Exhaust Tips, Mirrors, Shifter)

Im going to tint my windows myself and just get some help from someone who has done it before that way I save like $300

I did the install on my sound system myself, not the most professional job but it works great and saved me about $200 someone else would have charged me. Same with the dynamat..

I have some clear corner lights right now but my head lights are two piece and the corner has condensation in them. Buying some clear 1 piece twin halo head lights off ebay and installing them myself.. That will cost a max of $200

I have a mechanic who get me a sweet deal on some 1.6" lowering coil overs Im not sure exactly howmuch that will cost yet..

Back bumper has a small crack, that will cost $100 to fix..

A couple rust spots on the hood, that will cost $300 to fix..
Body work I dont like doing myself, cuz if you **** up it shows...

Anyways Im a full time student at abbott and work part time, I try and do around1-2 mods a month, Hoping to get everything done before waterfest!

I want to get some 19" Mags but those will cost around 2k so that will probably be the last thing i slap on the car as far as aestetics. The 16" Stock Audi mags I have now are pretty good looking n the mean time.

Trick to modding yourself on a budget is really Do it yourself! and just pay for the parts(but shop around obviously)

I'm a student and don't always have a lot of cash for the dub. I either find good deals or I wait. I'd rather wait, be patient, and do the mods properly when the time comes. No one's rushing you but yourself.

I'm not doing anything cheap ass. I'm using the money i save up to buy the right parts, just slowly work on my car. I mean i'm a full time student and i only work part-time so i can't go crazy with mods all at one time. That's why by this summer i'll have enough money saved up to get a good set of lowered suspension.

Keep posting your spring/summer modding on small budgets.

i've got a mark 4 jetta VR6 bone stock minus aftermarket headlight bulbs (which burnt out recently), GLI style tailights and tints that i wanna change. In a perfect world I would have this baby lowered with hawt rims, badgeless grill and an intake to cool the hawtness all by waterfest but the bank disagrees with me lol. Meanwhile i'm keeping my fingers crossed...

ill try to get a jolf swap ... retint my window .. the last one did that messed up alot ...try to by some ecode ... my mk3 need a drop .. buy some nice wheel .. (try to see a good deal) smoke myself the fog light .. fix my cluster light(next week ...) i think that would be good .. anyway .. maybe if a found a good job doing a swap ... :)

Theres a difference between using aba bottoms with 1.8 8v heads and milling them to the extrem to run high compression on stock internals.

and beeing a ricer.

I SMOKED my tail lights by myself. and i changed the radio + all the speakers, installed an amp and a sub by myself without any knowledge on "How to"... why? - lack of money :)

also i never pay anyone to change my oil, battery, tires... yes it takes shitloads of time... but with going to school full time - no $$$...
