I'm stealing your idea, and hope that I don't get stopped for another $151 ticket. If I do, after a flat-black job, then it's time to change muffler.

Anyone know what kind of paint would be best?

I had a flat black Supertrapp muffler on my Probe. Looks like this:

Extremely loud, but it it's so stealth the police can't see it!:D lol

wtf is this crap? un fart can avec un bouchon?

yeah BBQ paint rocks. that's what i used to blackhouse my headlights. it's heat resistant, and is ULTRA flat black, like reflects no light at all. super stealth.

i think ractive has seom flat black mufflers, maybe magnaflow too.

my muffler is painted flat black besides my tip. ill try to take pics tomorrow. so far i havnt been bothered by the pigs.

wtf? you actually taped it? dude, i hope you didn't drive around like that, you know the exhaust gets really really hot right?

but ya, i've been thinking about painting mine flat black as well.....

yes... im a ****in moron and i drive around with hockey tape on my muffler to make it more sleeper.... :dunno::run: i taped it while it was parked and not running lol or else the tape would've stuck on it forever..... so to answer your question no i did not

i've been contemplating wether or not i should paint my exhaust flat black as well... right now i have a fujitsubo legalis r and it's pretty quiet but i'd like to make it even more low key... i'd like to see more pics of flat black mufflers!

but ya, i've been thinking of doing this as well since i got stopped by the darker cop downtown...

btw, i assume bbq paint has a high resistance to heat, right?

and how's the adhesion? would i have to sand my muffler first?

Yeah it's high heat paint. I bought a can from Reno-Depot. The brand is Tremclad and it was about $12.00. It says 650 C (1200 F) temp. For special heat resistance uses. As for sanding it first, I'm pretty sure it's better if you do.

i saw this thread then a few days later noticed that the guy near my house painted his muffler on his CB7.

i guess you guys insipred him.
