the big problem with q6600 is that its just a 2.4ghz ... so when you're running a big video card, you don't have enough power ... also a q6600 is not a true quad core ... its only 2 dual core positioned on a simple card ...

also, why are you saying that the 8800gt performs the same as the gtx ?

Yo man, GHz doesn't mean anything. A Pentium 4 was clocked higher than the Athlon 64, but the Athlon's kicked the P4's ass. It all has to do with architecture.

And by the way, the whole "true quad core" doesn't mean anything, for $275, the Q6600 is a lot faster. And you can overclock it to 4.0GHz with a G0 stepping, at least 3.5-3.6GHz on air, with a cooler for ~$40, even less than $30 with a Freezer 7 Pro. The E6850 doesn't overclock very well anyway.

Yo, the AMD Phenom X4 Quad Cores (Agena) are being released on November 19, I say you wait till then and see what the benchmarks are like. Then you can decide between a Intel Q6600 or an AMD Agena 9600.

As for the graphics card. If you're willing to spend the money on a GTX, get two GT in SLI instead for the same price and it kills even the Ultra in benchmarks. Usually SLI isn't good, but with high-end cards like the GT, it's great. OR you can wait for the 512MB 8800GTS G92 Revision which'll be as good as an 8800Ultra for about $300.
