je viens de m'acheter un laptop avec une carte pour Wifi... quel routeur me conseillez vous ? quelle est la différence a vérifier pour les routeurs ?

ps:j'ai une connection adsl et je vais utiliser l'ordi uniquement pour internet + travaux d'école + musique et des choses de base...

l'ordi est une dell d600 (laptop)
desktop est un compaq presario 6 000
 
Nimporte quoi chez Futureshop fera laffaire...

Juste evite netgear. Moi je te conseillerais Linksys (cisco)
 
all the same pretty much, linksys and dlink are the best, belkin not too bad. depending on your place and interference you might want to get an extender aswell.
 
jai un dlink...je suis tres satisfait

verifier pour la longeur de porter (je sais pas si tu dans une maison ou un appart)
 
d-link j'ai passe 3 en 1 mois des wbr-2310, juste pour te dire que le setting aussi basic que de ne pas diffuser le SSID ne peut pas etre coche, meme avec le firmware le plus recent. Et pour la cerise sur le sundae le wbr-2310 est en realite un di-624 mais dans un nouveau boitier, ils vendent un nouveau router dont juste le firmware et le boitier est pas pareil...

personelement je l'ai booste a 105mA (stock il est 28mA je crois) de signal en mettant une petite fan d'ordi a $1.99 de chez addisson sur le top et un petit power supply variable a $4.99 de chez addisson aussi. La fan roule a 6 volts.
On a 4 ordis wired et 4 wireless. Aucun drop de connection depuis 6 mois.

J'ai eu un Dlink que j'ai vendu et je l'aimais.

Je l'ais remplacé par un autre Dlink très récent et en WiFi, ça ne vaut pas de la bouette. Je me fait déconnecter souvent et en jeu en ligne, j'ai des pauses et ça gèle alors je suis branché avec le fil.

Essaye Linksys.
 
jai un linksys wrt150n et il fonctionne tres bien. Je l'adore.

Sur mon ordi j'ai une carte sans fils D-Link DWA-542. Elle supporte supposément le N mais je n'arrive pas a la connecter au wideband de mon router. Elle se connecte seulement au standard band qui est basiquement du G.

Alors j'utilise mon router en G et sa va super bien. Quand j'aurai de largent a dépenser j'acheterai la carte linksys qui va avec le router pour améliorer la porter et tout.

Avant j'avais un D-Link DI-524 (messemble c sa...) ... tk un 52 mbps en G. Quand j'ai switcher au linksys sa faite une salle différence. Le linksys en G me permettais d'aller carrément deux fois plus vite confirmer par speedtest.net.

Anyway, I had a lil' question too in term of router.. what's faster finally? B or G? We have a B and the connection is kinda slow. For example, I get 200kb download instead of 800kb/dwn if I plug myself into the router and not via wi-fi. I know wifi isn't supposed to be insanely fast but yeah, anything to make it faster?

B or G it won't affect your internet speed... Both protocols are faster than your internet. It will affect network speeds by alot though.

Aha! So... what's better? I'm not well educated in that domain. I'm imagining network speed isn't 11mbps right? Our 'net is probably limited to 5-7mb sooo.. how do I get the network speed to go faster? :run::dunno:

802.11b is 11mbit (1.375MB/sec)
802.11g is 54mbit (6.75MB/sec)

Those speeds are theoretical though, and so you lose a LOT in overhead and packet header info. and all that

As for internet speeds, exactly like Daso said (he's dead on) most ISPs in Quebec don't offer speeds greater (usually 3mbit-10mbit, though 16mbit and 20mbit services are coming into the scene more and more - but even those speeds are theoretical, especially for DSL) - so yeah, whether you use wireless B or G, you likely won't notice a difference over the net, but you will definitely see a big difference transferring big files over your local area network.

Higher you go, it's all backwards compatible.

An n router, imo, ain't worth the extra money unless you transfer files to and from your network very often. Or if you need moar range!
