tail light ticket...have questions

ok so Saturday night I was on the 132 going towards the Mercier and all of a sudden I see police light behind me so I pull over right away. I shut my car off and then the officer comes to my door. He asks me how its going tonight and then asks for my papers

The whole time I was being very polite and I still didnt know why he had stopped me. The then he explains to me that he had intercepted me for my Day Time Running light on my rear tail lights not working.

Since I thought they were working I turned on the car and sure enough they werent working...so then I told him I didnt know and he said he would be back in a second

So he went back to his car and came back 15 min later with a ticket. He told me he was giving me a ticket because it is extremely dangerous for me to be circulating on a main highway without my tail lights working and that many people get into accidents cause they dont see a car and hit it*blah*...he also said that i should be fully aware of the condition of my car...but wtf...give me the name of one person who does a full circular inspection of their car everytime before they get in it and drive to make sure all tail lights, head lights, flashers, side markers, and brake lights are 100% functional:dunno:

Anyways obviously I wasnt happy that he was giving me a 100$ fine for something i thought i would get a 24 or 48 hour warning for so I asked him why i didnt get one and he said

"regard mon homme...cest meme pas 100$...cest pas la fin du monde la"

What a ****in jackass:squintfin so after that I said wtv took the ticket and drove off.

So my question is do i have grounds on which I may contest this ticket and win or lower the fine because i find it rediculous that this officer gave me a 95$ fine for something that could have happened while i was driving:squintfin

DRL are only to be used in the Daytime. THey only turn on your front lights when the car is running.
If you were driving at night only on your DRL......only your front lights were on and your tail lights were off. So ticket it is.

no...i was driving at night with my lights fully on...like headlights working and everything...the things that werent working were my rear tail light "markers" if you will. The brake lights, headlights side markers and everything were working fine...its just the normal night driving "markers" on the rear tail lights that were not working

its a volks so its some sort of electrical problem for sure

You can contest if the oficer said they did not work but in fact they did.
Your are admitting they were not working.
you cant lower the fine on that either.
Dont waste your time and money an have it fixed and pay the ticket.
PS. Woukd have been nice of him to give you a 48hr. Since its like you said someting that can happen suddenly.

thats what i thought too...but i has hoping that for something like that there was a law thats states your must give a 48hr first .... but i guess not...i guess the guy just felt like being a prick that night

anyways, im gonna try to fix it asap but these problems are hard to find...

Fix it and contest it that way you don't have to pay your fine rite away....at least it gives you time to save up to pay off such a huge fine...

You might want to take a look a the DRL relay. When they burn out they tend to mess up your normal lights.
Example You turn on your lights and ecvery thing is fine but when you brake your tail lights go of.
I have no idea where they put them on VWs but when you find it, jaust take a snif you'll know right away if its burned out. Smells real bad,.

c'est un circuit électrique ultra basic, ca devrait etre tres simple a trouver, sinon change de mécano !!!

c'est platte comme ticket, mais y'a pas grand chose a faire

what are you talking about change mechanic? the lights stopped working there was nothing he could do? shit happens, hes gonna find the problem and fix it this happened Saturday and plus its a winter beater lol

The cop was right to give you a ticket, not giving you a chance i don't agree with. But on the means of contesting i would not, its not worth it for a 95$ fine. Lucky he didn't tow your car since it was at night, consider your self lucky.

i know how to read genius ... Hes my bro I know the story and I know its probably something stupid like a small and easy fix believe i've had a couple volks i'm at pro a quick fixes... and your not making much sense because in your first post you said "c'est un circuit électrique ultra basic, ca devrait etre tres simple a trouver"...

moi contester ca j'amenerais une facture de changement d'huile du canadian tire........ et je lui expliquerais que je ne connais pas grand chose en automobile, et que lors de mon changement d'huile il font une vérification de ces lumieres,
Régulierement j'effectue mes changement d'huile je ne peux etre a l'affut de tout ce qui peux briser surtout si aucun témoins lumineux allume dans mon dash..............

tk c'est des ben belle parole je sais pas si ca marcherais

Ca prouverais quoi au juste??
A part passer pour un twit devant le juges et payer des frais suplementaires.......

Dans ton cas, un ticket c'est mieux qu'un 48h car un 48h ça coûte 90$ et c'est une vérification mécanique de TOUT ton char, et y'a AUCUN moyen de le contester.

Un verbal warning aurait été + cool (c'est ce que j'aurais aimé recevoir)

^^hmmmm...c'est pas un avis d'inspection mecanique ca?? Un 48hrs a ma connaissance, c'est que que si apres 48hrs ils te repogne avec le meme trouble, t'es cuit. (ticket). Voir ca comme un avertissement..

FF: Est-ce que les sidemarkers (dans le bumper arriere) qui n'allument pas, alors qu'ils le devraient, peut etre consideres comme une defectuositee majeure? Les miens sont des reflecteurs, muni d'ampoule pour eclairage de nuit.

J'ai un serieux probleme, p-e meme un probleme de conception (ou c'est juste ma voiture..lol). Depuis sept.04, j'ai remplacer sur les 2 cotes, la couette de fil/connecteur ou se branche l'ampoule, au moins 4 fois. La derniere, c'a n'a meme pas durer 3 mois. Il se fait du vert de gris eceurant la dedans, et peu importe ce que je fais, ca reviens toujours :run:

(je dois enlever le bumper arriere a chaque fois pour les remplacer)
