I usually get about 700km on one tank with my ricebox Civic. Let's say that a certain gas station mixes ethanol with your regular gas, will it increase the gas consumption?

I don't want to return to this certain gas station because I just emptied my tank in 200km... If it (the mix) doesn't affect anything, then I guess I'll have to visit a garage soon... and I owe a gas station owner an apology.

10% ethanol mix won't affect your km by that much, check your car or driving habits.

I used to get less milage with my mom cavy but alot more power with ethanol. Never understood why tho. The mileage I understand but more power? lol

Make sure you didn't go and put E85 Ethanol fuel in your car by mistake. It would be like putting diesel in a gas car...

That fuel is made for E85 Flex cars. GM produces a couple of models that require this ethanol based fuel.

I believe only Sergaz sells 10% Ethanol here in Quebec. Ethanol gas has a higher octane, hence the claim "more power", but it is also bad for your car's hose and corrosion in the engine as well ! I myself try to avoid anything ethanol.

Did you went to a Ultramar?

I used to go to one, and it was during winter, so consumption was kinda high (longer time in traffic + cold temperatures), but when the warmer temps came back, I realised that the consumption was still high. Switched to Shell, back to what it used to be. Weird, isn't it?

I always went to Esso, but my tank was close to empty and that Ultramar was selling at 143.9 with service so I couldn't resist. Anyways, lesson learned

Thanks to all replies *tu*

False they work on Unleaded witouth Ethanol.

I had a Yukon that could use E85 and we put Unleaded without Ethanol for the hole 2 months without a problem. It is written in the user manual to.

You drive an EK and you get 700kms per tank?

When my tank is dead empty i fill up 38-40L at the most, for 520-620kms, that gives you an average of 6.1-7L/100km.
If you get 700kms of out of the same tank that's an average of 5.7L which is in my book impossible.. Unless you have a bigger tank.

2000 Civic lx here.

I have a 97 hatchback with no AC. I don't rev past 2500rpm. Ever. I will, once in a blue moon, go past 3000rpm to go uphill. Gets me from A to B. That's it.

Fine, but the opposite is false anyway. E85 fuel in a gasoline engine = bad.
