It it's true it really sucks, I hope it's not anyways,

For that price I think I would prefer an M3, I mean it can't be THAT unreliable.

Best of both worlds would be a Z06 corvette with a supercharger on top of the LS7

600whp 600wtq anyone ?

pour du boost laisse faire le LS7, va s'y N/A

Guy! Let me explain the Japanese mentality compared to the american mentality!

Japanese dude ask CIE xyz to build a cog for the trany. Specs are to be this size, this weight, this durability. Ok... Lets say it has to be, 15$, 32tooth, it has to weigh under 400g and resist to 80nm of tork.
So Cie xyz comes back with a cog. 14$, 32teeth, 390g and resists 95nm of tork.
The japanese dude tell the CIE xyz to come back with a cog that resists to 80nm of tork according to specs. This will save weight and cost! (heat treating, material bla bla bla)

Now lets take the american that goes to XYZ for his cog.
Once again, specs are: 15$, 32teeth, 400g and 80nm of tork.
He gets a cog: 14$, 32teeth, 390g and 95nm of tork. He says! Perfect make me 500 000!

Yeah right.... that's why a stock civic tranny can handle 500 hp. They do use lighter and better material since a long time and it's working good for them ( aluminium block for example).

Don't say silly things, every one and his mother knows that japaneses car are usually really reliable....especially compared to USDM. A 2001 Cavalier is usually found dead in a scrapyard while a Civic 10 years older is still going strong, puffing oil like crazy but still going lol.

Don't get me wrong, they're pieces of crap from every side of the ocean and the're great US car also..... damn I'ld love to have a Corvette, insane package for the price.

And with that comment you demonstrate your limited understanding of how transmissions actually work. Thanks, but you're missing the point.

Nice try, I actually know how a tranny works and understand how a dsg is faster than stick, but your missing MY point.

Oh and don't get the wrong idea on me, I tried every type of transmission, even a eaton fuller (I used to ride booms). My point is simple: Its not as fun as the stick+clutch pedal. TO ME that is. Its a personnal preference and you can't argue over that ;)

I'm very good at quick shifting. I can beat the smg transmission if I make no mistake. DSG is just too fast.

I'm still surprised that people really expected a car with all the positives of a Supercar (Speed, handling, brakes, technology), yet none of the drawbacks (reliability, price, etc...)

Japanese engineers are no more capable of ignoring the laws of nature (like the resistance of materials, the chemistry of fuel etc) than any other engineer from anywhere else.

You wanted Supercar-beating performance? You got it. Now you have to pay the piper...

you have no idea how much I would rage at my salesman if the tranny failed or I lost my warrenty because of this little POS black box, you have no idea the rage. I'd be like, "yeah? -1 GTR in the world" Leave, rent chaingun, drive car into field, rip chain gun, call insurance "yes my GTR has been vandalized" and park it in cote des neiges lol (no hate intended)

ces impossible que avec juste 15 ou 34 launch c fini donner moi se char et je vous garantie que je fais au dessus de 100 launch facile.le thread c de la bullshit

I don't know much about these engines, but the point is that you can't go wong with old school technology (OHV engine) that has been race-proven for over 50 years in NASCAR.

Turbo engines and automated race transmissions are cool. They've got lots of new technology and keep pushing the limits of the car world with things like lightning-quick shifts, automatic rev-match, etc.. But have you ever heard the old saying :

The last of the old technology is better than the new technology.....Simply because it has more years developpement and refining behind it. Look at a Corvette LS7, sure it's a 7.0L engine and ''only'' makes 505hp, but it's probably more reliable simply because OHV engines have been around since 1955-60 and have improved every year since then.

People still think SMG/DSG/etc is the future? Sounds like shitbox transmissions...

this car is a piece of shit, and they were saying all over the place that theyre aiming at 997 turbo with all the specs, well they matched it, but its just like an f1 car, use it twice and get a new one. And how ****ing bad and uncertain u have to be to ask the customer to sign the shit about the brakes....
wtv i wont go on, this car is a pentium 4 complete POS

It exists and its called the Lingenfelter Corvette but instead of a supercharger it has 2 turbos and pushes more then 1000 whp.

that thing is damn sexy.
i'll take it black please. 2.

Back to the topic of the gtr's questionable reliability

To be honnest I've questionned this car since it was first going around the 'ring and I like to ridicule GT-R fanboys but this is only one source and way to soon to know if the car actually has these transmission problems. I think only time will tell if the GT-R is the so called "second comming" for the automobile industry.

What I find funny though is how some blame Renault for this and not Nissan.
