Misubishi Eclipse... why?

well, ugly and not appealing to majority of ppl is good enough reason? :dunno:
i actually think that's the biggest reason why this car doesn't sell and no one really care about it.
hence why it's pretty useless and mitsubishi should considering going back to drawing board with this or consider bringing back the gsx.

Im still unclear on were the 4 door concept came into play... but sure what ever.
Bottom line is when people shop for a car all the crap you mentioned represents a small portion of the decision making process...
Except for fuel consumption because thats a big deal now a days, but go back 10 years.... no one gave a damn about fuel consumption.
And unless you haul shit around all day, no one gives a rates ass about storage.
Further more, as far as i know... most guys on this forum do their own maintenance and mod theire car voiding, the part they moded so yea any way

and as for the 4 door practicality,
first of all, you are the that mentionned jetta, golf and civic. all of them come in 4 door platform. it gives reason to grab ppl's attention.
second of all, practicality? 4 door is clearly more practical than 2 doors. how can u not agree with that. it's like 1+1=2. it sounds pretty dead on to me. if you have ppl to carry, they don't need to squeeze into the back seat, or the front passenger doesn't need to get out to let them in and out. they can just simply open the door. if you need to carry something in the backseat, you don't need to squeeze your body to grab them and take them out. yuo can simply open the door. not to mention, 4 doors usually give better space for rear passengers. should i go on?

No i dont care about how pretty you find the car. Because thats you and a pretty or ugly car does not make it usless.
Some people find it nice, or else they nevr would of built. What do you think they manufactured a car with doign any market research behind it's conception.
So yea for the sake of the forum saying the car is usless, your perception of how the cars look fine sir has relly nothing to do with it...
Any way like i saied i just find it funny that people state that a car is usless for no other reason then to talk shit.

WOW you clearly missed the concept of comparison. Il give you a play by play so you dont miss any thing.
You took en eclipse wich is only offered in with 2 doors, and saied it was crap. I then later asked the benefit of owning a civic rsx jetta golf integra. Now im sure you must of understood the saying "compare oranges with oranges".
So why would you take the 4 door civic when your comparing it with a 2 door vehicle.
Didnt know they made a 4 rsx... no don't come back with a tsx because i saied rsx aah a 2 door car
Same thing goes for the Integra as for the civic.
The jetta was thrown in there because it is a popular "Tuner Car" since we were talking about power and drivability and performance.
The same thing goes for the golf as for the Integra and Civic
So please tell me why would some one who is the market for a car, who is looking at an eclipse, go out and campare it to a fucking 4 door civic, when the appropriate comparision would be to the 2 door.
I didnt know id have to spoon feed you but i guesse i just gave you free education.
Oh and when a something is widely accpeted it doesn't become objective lol

I'm agree all the way with 2g eclipse kid ! For myself, I realy don't like the body of the first eclipse generation we had aroud 2000. But the new one, I realy like it. If it was 4wd or Rwd I would want one ! So I don't know what RSX, Civic Coupe, Tiburon, Altima Coupe, Accord Coupe etc.. have more than the Eclipse ! Ok I would take the Altima Coupe first, but only beacause my soul is sold to Nissan and specialy to the VQ engine ! And please stop comparing it with 4-doors cars, it was realy simple to understand that he was talking about the same kind of car than the Eclipse ! So for now the only good reason why the Eclipse may fail, it's if it cost much more than the competition.

objectively speaking, all the cars that u mentionned above plus the eclipe, they all offer similar features. which i think is the reason why you set this rule of only objective reason so you can argue with everyone with tons of useless obvious facts.
what really attracts buyers in the real world would be its appearance and its reliability and reputation.
and i personally think appearance plays big role here since that 2000+ eclipses are butt ugly.

Why are you getting so hung up about being "objective." There's nothing objective about liking cars. The whole thing is subjective.
The problem I have with the 1g and 2g DSM is that the Evo I-III was a terrific all-around package...and the DSM is not. Have you ever driven an early Evo?. They were very light (2600-2700 lbs stock), compared to 3150 lbs for the Talon TSi/Eclipse GSX. Why does a small coupe weigh almost 500 lbs more than the 4-door sedan version? Know how much my Evo VIII weighed? 3180 lbs. And that's with modern safety equipment and meeting modern crash-test standards. Does that make sense to you? If you want to talk "objective" then the DSM is objectively 500 pounds overweight.
On top of that, ergonomics are truly horrible (hate the seats, steering wheel, lousy gauges, and poor visibility). Steering feel is lousy. Handling is lousy. Braking is lousy. All of this is the exact opposite of the Evo I-III, which is one of the sweetest handling cars you'll ever drive and offers excellent ergonomics. Pretty much everything that makes the Evo great is missing in the DSM.
And before you jump down my throat, yes, I drove a DSM for about a year. And I used to own an Evo VIII. And I've driven an Evo II, Evo V, and Evo VI Tommi Mak Edition in addition to my Evo VIII. So I'm not pulling this opinion out of my ass. This is from experience.

Ok il put it to you this way MAYBE you will grasp the idea of why the look of the car, in no way reflects its failure as a car.
When you go looking for a new car with a girl friend/boy friend (what ever you're into) and they typacally do not know much about cars, and you asked them,
"What do you think I should get between the WRX STI or the new 4 door civic?"
The answer "Well i don't like that big scoopy bumpy thing on that wrx"

The reason i dismiss looks as a valid argument against the cars functionality is that it has no bearing on it at all. IT IS SUBJECTIVE AND CANNOT RULE A CAR USELESS. I believe we all agree that this car is ugly and that i wouldnt drive that. HOWEVER it was a record setting vehicle in it's era...but i guesse it's a useless and has no purpose.
And no big guy im not a pissed off kid, i just don't like it people twist my words to make me look stupid.
And i did not ask why eclipse's are shitty sellers i asked what core benefit of that the other vehicles have OVER the eclipse...

Although i have no issues with the handeling of my dsm, i have not compared it to a small light weight evo, so i can't comment but it makes sense, my car is a big bertha lol

This car makes all sense in spyder version
For the price of the spyder the only thing you can get is a G6 cabrio, no doubt i'll take the eclipse.

Price is high and power to weight isn't that great but you do realize a lot of people NOT on MR will buy a car for it looks and couldn't care less about having more than 150 hp!
Speed limit is 100km/h anyway, even a Smart Fortwo can do that so why would they want more power?

i twist ur words? u asked why 4 doors are more practical and i stated my opinion. u asked why ppl choose those cars over eclipse, and i stated my opinion.
so before running your mouth with ur unecessary words, try to understand what im saying because im not here for pissing contest with you.
you asked for a core benefit but it's still a matter of opinion. one can like the way handles, other can hate. one can like its ergonomics, other can hate. one can like the way the engine responds, other can hate. unless we are discussing about pure numbers comparison in specific aspect of the car.
no one really chooses car according to its spec sheets. if that was the case, everyone would be driving same car. that's why i think the reason why ppl prefer those cars lies on their looks, their somewhat biased personal opinion and preferences ,and the car and manufacturers reputation. and in my opinion that is the biggest core benefit over the eclipse. these are what's taking away buyers from the young unappealing 2000+ eclipse.

he laughed at practicality, then he talks about 4 doors, then talks about how he manages to carry everything he needs in his eclipse as if 4 doors doesn't mean much in terms of practicality.
hence why i started saying things about how 4 doors are practical and has more space than a coupe.
and no, im not the one that brought 4 door car into comparison.
maybe he should've clearly stated that comparison is between 2 door coupes.
all those cars falls into econo compacts. not only 2 door segment. especially when he thew jetta in there. all those cars come in 4 door platform except for the rsx.
which is why ppl mentionned about having 2 more doors as a benefit.

Ive driven the previous generation V6 model pictured above and honestly, both me and my friend walked away dissapointed. There is alot on this car that fails.
Its ugly, inside and out
The interior is cheap
Mitsus dealer network
Performance is average for such a large engine
It drives no better or worse than its competition, average at best
