very nice,

and the covers are probably to keep the heat IN, even if it dosen't say that in the article. I formula 1 they have covers to keep the heat in the brakes because carbon brakes don't brake until 600 degrees CELSIUS

Again, like the FXX, a truly awesome car from Maranello...

And again, like the FXX, yet another car that will race nowhere but in the head of unbelievably rich sexagenarians that will at best only use 25% of their full potential on track days.

Can't wait to see one at the Ferrari Festival @ Tremblant, though.

The auther of that article is faill it's designed to hold in heat.. not cool anything off. so..

Fail on your Fail

Fail again in the same thread , wow ! Now , everyone know that YOU know sh_it about racing ! ;)

Boom headshot, yeah I hadnt read the article and that part is clearly BS. It's simple logic, if you want airflow, dont cover the thing to prevent air from hitting the disc.. And @ AHP_DC5 you seem to be part of a racing team, you should know this kind of things I think.

That's why i am telling you that you all are wrong thinking that these '' Donut'' are to keep heat in there ;)

Believe me , you will never need a device to improve brake discs heat even if they are carbon composite *byewhore*

At least read you article correctly ;) Scroll down to the cooling system and you will get your answer :)

The donut are use to retain cool air that is coming trought the brake duct in front of the car.

It have dual purposes , better cooling and improving aerodynamic !

How does it improve aerodynamic : By retaining air within the disc area , the cool air that come from the brake duct in the inside of the wheel are not redirecting to the exterior of this wheel and hitting the spoke of the wheel creating air resistance

How does it improve cooling : What you dont see is the inner portion of this device ( you can see it in one of Drifter Steve formula picture ). The donut is a part of a channel that maximise the air flow around the brake discs.

So anyone still thinking that this device is use to improve HEAT ?

The true answer must lie somewhere in the middle... that disc must be used to control the amount of cooling available for the brakes - not so much that the brakes become cold and useless, not too little so that the brakes become too hot and disintegrate.

Racecars are compromise vehicules, always.

*blah*

It is for cooling, PERIOD

we're gonna find out just how much trouble they will be in friday at calabogie, will you guys be there?

No , first test day was done at Sanair 2 weeks ago ! Next one is friday May 15th at Mosport before the Victoria Day Speedfest Week end. See you guys there
