of course its false, its an exagerated stereotype right?

i come back because this my country, like yours, you can vacation anywhere you want.

But seriously guys.
When I was doing my Sec. 5 - only 5 people out of 30 actually passed French... oh, I did my high school in French.

We had 5 immigrants in that class - 1 failed.
We also had 25 Quebecois, 24 failed.

sad but true.

tu as été dans une école d'attardés mentaux!?
so you failed at school or you're telling you were in the top 5?
come on don't tell us such BS

Serieu...Je suis allez a une école publique assez pauvre et c'est toujours les 2-3 mêmes attarder qui coulaient lol

Who the hell cares? A spelling mistake by a construction worker getting paid $9/hr means that the French language is in the crapper?

I have nothing against anybody, but just want to point out that 3/4 of french posts on this forum make me think the language is in the crapper..

didn't the french come over here by boat also, then they preceeded to take the native americans land?....not trying to bash but thats just history...

one more thing, if your 100% Quebecer than that means your ancesters were whores(filles du roi)...no rich and educated Frenchman would go on a boat that might sink all the way across to some country called Canada filled with native americans, snow and freezing cold winters

Kind of true say, but french is annoying as hell to write which is why I refrain from doing so

So if one had to use it I can see taking shortcuts

they seem to forget that part....apparently it all started in the good old 1960s lol....

But that's it, if noone's going to bother using it properly, what are we protecting? Somehow folks in the old world manage to write well, why is it a problem here? And why does protection consist of reducing the size of English writing on signs, rather than teaching French better?

Well said......the blind lead the blind, sad but true.

Don't take your history lessons from Mordecai Richler, though.

The "Filles du Roy" were not prostitutes. They were orphans. In the 17th and 18th century, it was customary for a girl to be wed to have a dowry. The dowry was paid by the father of the bride-to-be. If you were an orphan, you were shit out of luck and relegated to the back lot of society.

Then you have a King with colonial aspiration, and a colony filled by lonely men and a clergy that begins to worry that they are looking too hard at the local, not-quite-christian-yet natives. So said clergy brings the matter to the king, which then puts up the dowry for the orphan girls, making them his honorary daughters, hence the term "Fille du Roy".

So, were the "Filles du Roy" prostitutes? No. Were there prostitutes among the "Fille du Roy"? Most definately. This doesn't make the terms interchangeables.

End of history lesson.

why dont you go back to France with your fille du roi of a mother osti!

So, you can go up your entire family tree and solemnly swear that not one of your ancestor has ever spread her legs for a little cash? Good for you! *tu*

It's not like the english posts are any better. Yet, you'd be lying to yourself if you didn't think that the english language is generally much easier to write.

A book you read in secondary 4 is always impressive in an argument. Stupid comments like these just show the level of education that most intolorate people have, clearly stating the correlation between both factors. Just think of red necks.

Then again, I can still play the "why did your ancestors move to a country built by prostitutes? Why move away from perfection land?". We're all in the same boat idiot, you can't seriously think that the decision your ancestors made has anything to do with the way you think.

My comment was directed to they guy who said that the french were here and everybody else came on a boat. For the in a nutshell Sec4 version of my comment, i really doubt that the same poster graduated high school, so i lowered myself to his level.

My ancestors only moved here because of a war and we're planning to move back. What ended up happening was the war lasted pretty long and by then they became succesful . Long story short=money was too good to move back and you can do 6months here 6 there for vacation.
