Before anyone reads what I have to say, just understand that as 'wishful' of an example a nuclear holocaust between Arabs and Israeli's is.. straight-up.. it's not going to ever happen.. and if it does, none of us will be alive to tell our children about it.
Arabs and Israeli's have had major wars before: '58, '67, '73, albeit never with the capacity for damage that the US and Soviets had in the cold war era... (SEE: previous comments about Nash equilibrium & concept of M.A.D) but after every time they were at eachothers necks, the global community stepped in and peace process were at least worked-on... there is a such thing as a 'global conscience' and forums that look out for a parallel global community.
The implications and context that our theoretical example of a war of annihilation between them, aka 'let them nuke at eachother' must most definitely be defined as a 'dream' scenario, or unrealistic -- as said earlier-- at the least. If we wanted to assume the example is plausible, we'd also have to assume that Israeli's and Arabs would have no regard for life itself (nobody's brave enough to say that, are they?) which is exactly why all of this is nothing more than a can of "i wonder if's...", "what ifs" and "but maybe if....'s"
There are major stakes to gain, and major potential losses in the case of such an event, so I'm left to assume that no country would sit idle as the Middle East got decimated... plus why don't you think other nations would get involved? It would be not only the trigger countries like NK are looking for; but I'm certain it would touch the 4 corners of the globe, from the revolutionaries in South America, to pan-Islamic Africa, and so on... major global implications here imo.
I hate to be the one that says it, but Israeli's and Arab's are smarter than that; just like the Superpowers were in the post-Brezhnev era.
In a theoretical example of a war of annihilation, there would be no survivors.
re:
Annihialation:
# The act of reducing to nothing, or nonexistence; or the act of destroying the form or combination of parts under which a thing exists, so that the name can no longer be applied to it; as, the annihilation of a corporation.
# The state of being annihilated.
but it's all theoretics, so a debate could go on forever...
Wow its good to see someone that really makes sense on that type of discussion. Changes from sandro articles and dubsta comments.
