country is going bankrupt like iceland. italy, spain and portugal will be next.

the EU is cancer

You'd figure that they would be better off considering how much they rip off tourists.

I hated the way I was treated in Greece. Yet so many people from all over the world flock there for vacation...

explain cause im planning a trip to greece or dubai this coming summer.

I cant speak for the other countries, but Italy has a massive black market which keeps the country alive and many jobs. Just in Naples the textile industry is huge. There are many aspects not included in Eurostats.

Spain, Greece and Portugal are different altogether, way less industrialized.

LOL

makes me lol when I see angry tourists

Have you all heard the bullshit that goes on with british tourists? Not a popular bunch anywhere in Greece.

As for the rest of you, if you are anything like people I've see over the years, you walk around foreign countries sticking out like sore thumbs and with an entitled attitude. Of course people are rude if you're acting like canuck/american douchebags.

You gotta understand mediterranean countries have a very different mentality than people here. Women there will be extra-rude to men... until you call them on it. Men can't be bothered with you if you're not willing to make a little small talk.

Just act like a human being and you'll have no problem.

They test you. I've lived it.

Everyone i know who went to greece told me they loved shitting in everyone's kornflakes there and that the people just were not easy going. At least if i ever go i can quickly end an argument with "but your country is bankrupt so shut up"

corruption, less jobs, less money, and way of living just rose stupidly. I also read the union has control of where Jobs go. The EU controls trades and it's prices, and bunch of other shit that just kills any sovereign country.

the EU is part 1 of of a Global Gov't. they also want a N.A Union. then a Asian/Pacific Union, African Union and a South/Central American Union then to fuse them into a Global Union.

And eventually the Global Union will crash and everything will be re-segmentated as it originally was, and so the cycle goes on...

so much for wanting to go to Spain..

Spain is amazing (If you understand the culture).
I'm thinking of moving there for school,
but as mentioned in this thread,
the EU is going through a rough time at the moment.
I still have a year though to see how the events will unfold.

Very well said, when in Rome do as the Romans do, right?

My sis went to Paris on exchange with Concordia for 6 months and travelled throughout most of Europe. Everybody has a different experience or story to tell. It is true that the Brits/Americans are unloved in most southern Euro countries because of their attitudes, its all in the way you speak to people. As an Italian-Canadian, you can easily find yourself at home in either Greece or Spain.

My sis and her friends loved both Greece and Spain, the people were hospitable and easygoing, then again we understand how things work over there.

The European Continent is going through a hard time, there arent enough jobs to satisfy the highly educated population and the increase of foreigners from the eastern bloc and northern african countries, which creates a middle class vacuum. Its all numbers

This is being done to curb tax evasion which is rampant all over Greece.
perhaps!? but corporate fraud & gov corruption has caused all of this!

this is bad news for all drug dealers out there
how so :dunno:

I mean especially the street guy - he's not banking that money 9x's out of 10.

and its not like we are better! even before 911 they put in 'money laundering' laws, like realestate agent by law has to call rcmp if they recieve cash down of over $10K, same for car dealers! for sure its even less since 911 - i know for a fact its whatever 'cash' in the u.s since 911! even $1K can get reported as suspicious!!

big players all have legit or bs front biz's that just create fake paper work to put their money into the system anyways, always have always will.

why? just do any 1499.99 transactions
valid point - but think - is that even normal here? you're at the brick & you dump down cash for that couch set - would be looked at as odd.

shit i can remember buying my 1st digi cam 2mp, like 7/8 years ago, I had cash all 50's, fresh from the bank! I wanted to hold that money so i made a good decision, having it you think harder about the purchase more then 'just put it on plastic'! manager was called over..we usually don't see this much cash for purchases, he checked to see if it was counterfeit. that was like 8yrs ago.

Some countries don't work with plastic as much as you'd think. Japan for instance still works mostly with cash. People just prefer to deal with paper money and not risk getting their account "hacked".

As for the EU, these EMPs have been ripping off the European population for decades. Their "self-amending" treaty is just another proof of how ridiculous this power-grab has become.

Greece is on the verge of collapse and has to impose some drastic way to get as much money as possible. Investors are avoiding Greece like the plague right now and people that have interests there are pulling out, selling at a loss. The government wants to give themselves the option to reach deeper into people's pockets, that's all.
