Drive to T-DOT Need your advice

I too will be making the boring drive to Toronto on Thursday. I have done this drive so many times. One thing to keep in mind is this Ontario Law:

APPROACHING A STOPPED EMERGENCY VEHICLE - WHAT TO DO

Ontario’s Highway Traffic Act requires motorists when approaching a police, fire or ambulance vehicle stopped with its red lights flashing in the same direction of travel, either in a lane or on the shoulder of the road, to slow down and pass with caution. If the road has two or more lanes the motorist must move over into another lane, if it can be done safely.

First Offence - $400 to $2,000, plus 3 demerit points upon conviction

My cousin got nailed 500 dollars a few months ago because he did not change lanes!!

Hahahahhahahahhaahhahaah
I made a cop spin out on the 401 because he expected me to change lanes.
He caught up to me, tailed me for 10 seconds, and sped off (probably going for a more important call)

Hey, I have made the drive several times and it is pretty straight with not much in the way of corners... First thing I suggest is some good music or ull be going mental..
As for the whole speeding thing, cruise control will be ur best friend, but the speedo to 119 and no cop will stop you (i get radared twice a trip at 119 and have never been stopped and I am sure no one will stop u)..
Second, near kingston there is a giant rest area off the highway with a 2 or 3 food places and gas, be sure to stop there.

I do this all the time. I find it stupid when people here in Montreal don't move over to the next lane when they see a cop no the shoulder.

I did this drive last summer fucking boring as shit..

The trick is not to stop there's nothing to see or do on the way so just get to where you have to go and then have fun.

I got fucked cause the gf wanted to stop for food... stopped at a rest stop (one of the only ones open) and it took 45 minutes to get food..

DON'T STOP!

Ive done it numerous times, boring as hell and all the restos suck. Best thing to do is cruise-control at 119 and dont budge, the OPP dont screw around!

Good advise.

Also cops generally are at the following locations:
the first and second bridge after the 40 and 20 merge
Between Cornwall and Kingston is radar ally. They are everywhere and lots of unmarked cars on the road with you. Between Kingston and Toronto there are not as much. a few cars on the road but normally that it. Once you pass highway 115 about 45 min outside Toronto there are normally one or two either on the side or on the road. Once you get close to Toronto the pace picks up a lot..

Ive honestly done the drive 150-200 times in my lifetime since my parents own a car rental company there, some of my closest friends live there, and we have alot of family friends.

Stop at kingston for food. Honestly stopping really really helps alot. Completely refreshes you. Dont listen to people who say do the whole 5hrs non stop. It will make the trip feel like forever.

Big Apples pie is overrated.

Bring good music, and jerk off before the trip.

Good luck

I have that beat (no kidding a quick guess would be 400 times) and I say dont stop except for gas/piss and take your food in the car with you. Stopping depends on the person i guess..I hate dragging out the drive and stopping to chill just makes the whole drive feel so much longer.
Even better, snack only and eat when you get there.
Apple is a bit over rated but that's the only place worth stopping..

Once you get passed Oshawa and closer to Toronto, youll notice people drive pretty quickly, id say about 130-150kmh, which can be intimidating at first when youre dealing with 7 lanes!

exit Division Street in Kingston for some Arby's... mmmm

That stop is where the most fast food places are

X2 on Division street...I used to go to school north of Tdot and I've made the drive a thousand times. Watch out for OPP's for an hour before and after Kingston...they're cocksuckers around there, specially around Brockville.

Smoke a joint, it'll make the drive go by SOOO much faster...I did it once and I really don't know why I haven't done it since lol

Great tip regarding OPP. If you get caught speeding, contest, show up to court an hour early, talk to the cop and he'll knock you down two speeding brackets (brackets are 10 kph each).

For example: I got caught at over 160 (before they had excessive speeding law), cop was nice enough to drop it on the spot to 149, then dropped it to 129 when I talked to him before we went to court. Same deal with everyone that showed up there, they were all dropped two speeding brackets!

Don't go over 149 now tho, they're gonna tow your ass and GEV in ontario is when you're above 50 kph over speed limit, REGARDLESS OF THE SPEED LIMIT!
