Audi is celebrating their 30-year anniversary of Quattro this year...the original quattro remains to this day the true representation of what Audi is/was all about...

ce que je trouve bien c'est que meme dans les modele que audi sort aujourd'hui on retrouve l'inspiration d'il y a 30 ans, surtout dans la game RS

The Stratos, 037 and S4 were all very special Lancia's. Unfortunately, after the Delta Integrale, Lancia have lost their way...

Lancia Rally > Audi Quattro :)

LOL right.

The Audi S1 with 591 bhp and weighing just 1,090 kg (that's a better power to weight ratio than a bugatti veyron) is the most powerful rally car EVER built

Im not disputing the above cars incredible output, but Lancia dominated the Rally scene even when Audi had its infamous Quattro.

BTW....check out the Delta S4 Group B, and here are some facts to back it up, just to be a pain in the ass.

True, they have little connection with the curent Lancias in the same way an A3 has little to do with a Quattro from the 80s lol.

Yes, Audi did produce a lot of garbage, the 80, the 100, etc...However, they always had somewhat of a presence in racing (IMSA, later DTM, LeMans), albeit not as much as BMW (which remain the undisputed champs). Whereas Lancia, after the Delta, stopped racing altogether...same thing for Alfa Romeo...both very sporty Italian brands which have a racing heritage...

Same goes for the Japs, they build excellent Rally cars, the Celica, Impreza (remember the B22), Evo, etc...Let's not forget Peugeot, Ford, Citroen...even Porsche...

To this date, the most versatile race car/road car remains the E30 M3...used both in rally and track races...second is the 911...

btw how many manufacturer's championships has audi won? how many drivers have won the championship in an audi? give me a break.

plus this was all 30 years ago. what about current wrc? i love it how nobody ever mentions loeb and citroen these days. history is being made right now and u have the chance of seeing it unfold right before your eyes, yet everyone's still raving about what happened in the 80's.

I agree, the Audis won i believe 2WRC in the 80s, while Lancia dominated then followed by the Jap era with the Scoobies and Mitsus and recently its been all Peugeot and Citroen, with the Focus having success too.

The whole Quattro thing is a good marketing tool:)

Did you see the competition in the 80's...Audi, Peugeot, Lancia, Ford, etc...there is no competition today, WRC is basically a two car show, Citroen and Ford. Everyone else pulled out of WRC over the past 2-years.

Quattro was new at the time...same as Renault when they pioneered turbo's in F1.

exactly, nothing more than that. and they're so good at it that they've convinced the general public that in the 80's audi is the greatest thing that the wrc has ever seen and that their haldex awd equipped audi has something in common with the rally cars.

can't blame them tho, subaru's still trying to give their cars rally heritage (by extension meaning that they have a good wrc team) even though they haven't won a championship since 2003 and now they don't even have a team anymore.
