i understand what your saying here, but what they dont understand that most people (inless manager/director) have no right to modify prices. When someone buys something at RONA, the code is scanned into the system and the price that comes up is what we can sell it at.
( inless we let the client use our rebate, but we also have a limit, ive never given my rebate to just a client)

Most people threaten to leave, or claim that they found it cheaper somewhere else. Hey, i dont care, im here to help you, i dont get commission. If you can prove that you found it cheaper somewhere else, bring in evidence and its same price -10% store policy. If not, then get lost.

Im not Arab but what seems to be the case here is a question of not understanding cultures.

Middle Easterners in general are merchants, they have always been business people so they know how to make a buck and how to negotiate. If you dont know how to deal with that move to St Jerome where Quebecers will pay almost anything without asking questions.

True but all immigrants did that when they first came here, some of these people just off the boat from Tunisia or wherever, takes some time to become " Canadian ".

So true...So many of them are horrible sales people even though i acknowledge that they have a miserable job with miserable hours.
 
Well, people have to understand the fact that there's some place you can't try to negotiate! The only place I do negotiate is when I know I have the boss in the front of me! Like ''marché aux puces''. I don't try to negotiate when I know the guy/girl I am talking with it's just a salesman, because I know he don't give a sh*t if I buy something or not (except if he/her is working on commission).

But it's important to negotiate the price when you CAN, especially in the business world! ALL major companies negotiate prices! :bigup:

its weird how nobody try to negociate at the grocery store (IGA, Maxi, Loblaws, etc).
ppl just shut the hell up and pay.....

the only place id be a lowballer and try to negociate, is like at the flea market.
otherwise... i pay the asking price. what the hell is 5-10$ more or less.....

Wrong. I worked at a supermarket and they do try to nego, no joke.
 
looks like none of you ever sold used cars, i've seen canadians ready to kill for a dollar, arabs trying to buy the car at cost, pakis on the other hand try to buy at cost but don't mind that you make 40$ on the deal, russians lifting up the car and telling you that this car is a piece of shit so he'll never pay what i'm asking for it, chinese people that bust your balls for 5 hours, let their whole family drive it, drop the cost, and in the end "we will think about it" The best clients are the quebecors from the north, they call you up, ask if is negociable you tell them yes we can work a deal, they come, ask for a free 6 months warranty(100$ value) and leave the happiest people on earth and never comeback. So in your case i'd be happy that is only arabs who bother you, we are all the same man.

So fucking true. My advice, when dealing with Chinese people, when it comes to sales/selling, run for the hills.

It's not for sale or I can't budge on the price are your best options. They are the biggest pains in the ass when it comes to buying. And forget it, you can have an item that is 99.9% perfect but if they see that dot the deal's off in a heartbeat and they walk away leaving you high and dry having wasted your time.

If they come to buy your house point out all the flaws right away and 10$ says they walk right out without ever hearing from them. You might think it's crazy but in the long run you'll be thankful. Something as dumb as having a wrong # in your address sets them off.
 
What are you guys on about? I can negotiate a price in major stores (not wal-mart or the like) but Breault n Martineu/ The brick.. go and negotiate.
 
I didn’t negotiate when I was younger (other than on cars). Hell, who wants to look poor or cheap in front of the salesman, amirite? I had an image to uphold. Then I grew up a bit, and reached an epiphany: why in the hell would I care what the salesperson thinks?

I won’t negotiate at a grocery store or a dep, but on furniture, electronics, appliances etc...? Hell yes!

My brother and my sister in law just bought a new car and they had all kinds of problems getting service. By brother just turned 27, looks about 25 and refuses to shave more than once a week or wear anything other than jeans. His wife is 25 and looks 18. They had to go to four dealers to find a salesman who took them seriously.

They bought a 2010 S4 with 15k in options.

Oh, and not that it matters, but I'm a lily white wasp
 
Arabs are worst kind of customers. They are stupid, fucking illiterate and always end up being crybabies. If something goes wrong as a result of their stupidity they always blame the seller. And they have no fucking money and always want a deal.

Bahhh.... tout le monde négocie! Même les arabes qui négocies si je ne peux vraiment rien faire, je fais des jokes, genre : But sir... How will I pay my milk if I remove 10$.. stuff like that, most of the time they laugh and that's it.

Anyway, toute les cultures deal a leur manière. Pis les Québécois sont cheap.

There's a difference between asking for a deal and the type of negotiating "some" nationality's have.

Some think that insulting the product and saying its not worth what its selling for is a good idea.
Some just haggle non stop even after being told no over and over.
Some don't understand the idea of working on commission and giving a deal is giving money from the own salesman's pocket.
 
i've gotten pretty sweet deals at future shop. when i came in and buy a laptop, i bargained with them with CASH and for them to throw in an iPod touch 16 gigs. yes i'm that good. everything is over charged anyway why not save a few bucks and bargain amirite or amirite guys. adn for grocery stores just eat some of them in store don't pay for them, they're all over charged. i shop at Hawaii or some of those other grocery stores in st-denis.

ya right :squintfin futureshop and bestbuy are the most hardest to haggle cuzz they make so little profit from laptops and ipods! so no your not that good, your just that much of a bullshitter!
