better cell phone plan

Since over a year my wife and iI currently have 2 basic plan withtout contract with Fido (no internet). We havent got any freebies and never complained about anything. Currently our plan is:

"Forfait 100 minutes + Soirs et de week-ends illimités + Messages textes illimités " The thing is it costs 45$ tx in per plan (so 90$ tx included per month for both). I think it's ratter expensive for so little.

I was wondering if any of you guys knows better plan than this one. We don't use our cellphone a lot but we'd like to pay maybe less...

Other thing, we both need to change our cellphones so we'll have to buy new. My wife prefers to pay the phone and not being linked with a provider...

Any adive, or help would be appreciated

Call in and bitch :)...

With Fido:
250min
Nights/Weekends unli. (5pm)
Caller ID/Voice Mail
Unli. text msg.
30$ tx inc/month
No contract

If you're with fido for a long time, then you must have a few "Fido dollars" to get yourself new phones... or eBay.

Edit:
BTW... Howardforums.com is a lot better than MR for anything related to cellphones.

I finally called Fido and got a good plan which i am very satisfied with:

200min
Nights/Weekends unli. (5pm)
Fido to Fido call for free
Caller ID/Voice Mail
2500 sent text msg /unlimited reception
28,67$ tx inc/month
New phone for free
2 years contract

Another satisfied Fido customer.

thanks for your help Dex-

That's really good,I pay 28$ tx in with Solo Mobile and you have a lot more than me :(

100min
Nights/Weekend(7pm)
Unlimited msg.
2 years

By the way, take the contract, because the cancelation fees are only for the value of the phone. That's the new law in quebec since july 1st 2010.

I have fido: 50$ +tax

Unlimited incoming / Outgoing any time
Call Display & Name Display
Voicemail
2500 Text Messaging
Data plan : unlimited emails incoming / Outgoing
Instant Messaging BBM

The best plan is no plan !

How often do you guys use your phone, how many minutes a month do you use ?, do you have a busy month and then some month you hardly use it at all ?

The problem with these plan for people who don't use it often is that it often goes to waste. There are many less known providers that don't advertise and their rates kill the big guys like Rogers, Bell, Fido and Telus hands down !

call retention... they gave me 15$ monthly credit because i bitched and whined and added 1.5gb of data and plenty of other shits... RFD retention FTW

That means if already paid 50$ and my phone is worth 150$ I pay 100$ and I'm off ?

yup your right and its better if you take a contract with them with no phone but with a credit the max to cancel is 50$ and less so lets say you renew your contract for a 10$ credit for the term the max cancellation is 50$ and for the phone the way it go's its the phone rebate times the term of contract divided by the months remaining and be canfully with smart phone because of data cancellation*tu*

Actually what i wanted is to pay less than i used to... it was paying 45$ tax included and now it's 28,67$ tax included with a better plan. Just paying less is way better.

I'm not using 200 min, i usually use around 90-100 then during weekends it was a bit more maybe about 200 ... (so 290- 300 minutes per month). i do need the voice mail and only that on a cell phone cost with taxes and everything more than 30$ per month...

Do u have list of independent providers that offers greats plan ? U could probably help several people around.

For your amount of usage of 300mins/month, the plan you got from Fido at $28.67 tax in is not bad and suits your usage time.

I was with Rogers for 21 years with their basic package at $20, for 350 minutes/month, but with their system access, 911 fees and tax comes to around $32 or $384/year. That $300 or so in savings can go to buy that new HDTV or Blu-Ray player ...LoL

I barely use my cellphone, mostly for business confirmations for time and dates and the rare occasional call out when I am not at my desk. Basically I switched from Rogers to a pay as you go plan. So basically I am paying $7 tax in per month if I use 25 minutes/month or $84/year for basic coverage and a little more on more busier months.

ZTar Mobile buys airtime from Rogers and sells it to chains like 7-Eleven and Petro Can

Petro-Canada use Rogers network and for $25 you get a 4 month expiry date(down from 6 months previously), just pop in their SIM card into any Rogers or Fido phone and your ready to go, you have to purchase their selected phone in order to get the SIM card

7-Eleven has even a better deal, their $25($20 previously) top up last for 365 days, so basically for $25 you have 365 days coverage !

How do i buy airtime from 7-eleven ? They aren't in Montreal ...

the bad thing: SpeakOut Wireless Service is available only with a handset purchase.

If you know someone in Ontario, just tell them to buy it and email you the code. Yes, you have to buy their phone to get the SIM card just like Petro Canada, but their phones go on sale for as low as $29 and they are unlocked their SIM cards work with ANY Rogers, FIDO or unlocked phones.
