imo you shouldn'T slow down ...
They already had enough time to "deal" the situation !
Go big or go home
I totally agree.
I have seen this behavior before. they try to sweeten you down, then they put you aside when you're considered to be 'under control'
I have been dealing with lots of extremely frustrating stories over the past year, not related to cars, but in the same line as this event, so as therapy, I wrote a little something for Lauzon. here's what they'll wake up to tomorrow:
Hi,
I have a special request to make. This may sound a bit odd, but please read through, it will make more sense as it goes on. I have this old Alfa Romeo that I am trying to get rid of, but I don't have the heart to, as it has emotional value for me. Still, logic says that I have to see it gone as it's in pretty bad shape. I have tried selling it but nobody wants it. I don't have the heart to scrap it either. Scrapyards don't carry this car as it's an European model and nobody has parts for it. Even auto parts do not carry anything remotely related to it, and the dealer is not even trying to help out anymore, he's wasted too much time and got nowhere.
The car currently runs, and I'm sure that it will be completely dead once the temperature hits -10C, as the starter will freeze, the car will be stuck in the driveway (I won't leave my new Porsche that I bought from you outside in order to keep this inside), and come spring it will be even more of a rust bucket, but with frozen spindles, and it will take a crane to move it. The car is insured for the full collector value for the time being as it was appraised at the beginning of the year and the inspector was a daltonian moron who did not notice the difference between the the original car color, forest green, and rust.
Here is where you come in. I heard that you guys perform special services for people in need. I hear you go out on rides with cars, as part of your standard procedure, and then bring them back on a trailer after intentionally creating collisions. That is exactly what I need. I am not a professional, so I don't know how to do this in a safe and controlled environment. From what I hear you guys are experts at it, so I'm sure nobody will get hurt. I saw this story about this weirdo with a Gallardo that got smashed and I'm sure that he also asked for the same thing. I mean it's not possible that one of your technicians be so reckless as to take someone's car and rip it down the street at highway speeds and collide with a pole without actually wanting it. Nobody is that incompetent. If they were, they should be in a mental hospital, and the person that hired him on welfare. I'm sure that the Gallardo guy asked for the same thing as I am, and you guys were nice enough to serve him, and in order to make it look ok for insurance purposes, you dissimulated it as an accident. If I was an insurer I wouldn't fall for this scam as I know that your dealership is reputable and doesn't just hire any stupid hillbilly that takes the cars on joyrides, but insurers aren't as knowledgeable as I am. They obviously took the bait.
Do not worry, I am not interested in chasing after you as that nutcase Gallardo guy is. The nerve on him, to ask you to crash his car and then ask for punitive damages. It makes me puke. Either way, I know that it's not part of Lauzon's policies to take responsibility for accidents of the sort (nor should it be) so I will claim my own insurance, and you'll be left out of it. On top of it, I can actually dig up some dirt on the Gallardo guy, and make his life miserable. I will post his personal life info everywhere, show that he's a drunk, and I can even photoshop a picture of him next to his crashed POS with a bottle of vodka in his hand. I'll prove it that he was the insane idiot driving the car, and it's all his fault, on top of trying to fraud the insurance. He'll lose all credibility, and he'll be begging you for forgiveness at the end, as he won't be able to get insurance anywhere following this, as I work in the field. He won't know what hit him.
I also heard you can provide the requested service within minutes while I am waiting, that way I don't need to come back at a later time. I hope that's true. I checked on Meteomedia, and it seems that it'll be snowing tomorrow. This will make the story even more believable for insurers. What time should I bring the car in? You have no clue how anxious I am to get this over with.
Frivolously awaiting your answer,
Kev.
