Charity... How many of you give?

-I give a few dollars every month to centraide because it was my grandfather's favorite foundation and I want to continue this tradition.
-For the second year I'll serve breakfast at the jeux du québec
-I give a 2-3 days a year to the red cross(my favorite charity)

Most importantly, I gave up a career as a full time personnel recruiter and I sold my used car dealership to become a part time firefighter. Not the typical mtl firefighter that works hard for 2 minutes before he gets a backup of 150 guys, I took a job(for a ridiculous pay) where 4 of us have to face any situation alone for a good 20 mins or maybe half an hour before we see any back up. 4 guys to protect 40 000 residents.

What I've seen and done in the past 6-7 months has been insane, I've seen badly hurt people, I've seen people who had lost everything, I've even seen dead people...more than once. It's not easy to see but we continue loving what we do because most of the time we go home knowing that maybe we didn't directly save a life that day but that if we weren't there things could have been alot worse. We made a difference.

When I got here the firefighters were in a work conflict with the city(our employer), about 10 days ago the arbitration period ended and we practically lost everything we were fighting for. My 30h a week are now being cut down to 12h so I'll be working 48h@16.78$ to pay all my expenses for the month.

Regardless, I'm staying here, I'll find another solution, I love my job.

I don't believe in charity in form of money, goods and time are the real deal...

Ironically I give a huge part of my income to a crooked orgnization called Canada

The Truth.

Personally I think money can be squandered before it reaches it's real intent so if I give it's food or I volunteer.

Also I think it's morally pointless to be doing it if the reason your doing it is to make yourself feel better about yourself or to give yourself a better image. If you do it, do it because you want to help others not yourself.

As far as the tickets, use them for the MR Trololololo fund, go to the children's hospital and give them to a kid who's at the hospital but has the mobility and ability to leave. Not only would it make everybody's "do-gooders" posts here useless, you'd actually make a child happy which is your preference in charity.

- "heille t'as tu un 25 cennes, j'te ments pas c'pour manger"

- "ben voyons t'es fou, si tu manges ca tu vas etre malade!!!"

I don't give anything, if a day I find something that I'm pretty sure will go to people in need, for sure I will give. Look for Haiti, they don't receive anything yet, and we're talking about almost a year.

I hate people who ask for charity, if I want to give something, I will do it.

I help animal charities, SPCA & WWF, I usually give a few 100s per year.

I have never and will never give to charities that help humans, even children. EXCEPT Ronald McDonald foundation, they help my little cousin when he had cancer, they help his family stay in Toronto (They live in Sudbury) while he was going through all the medical crap.

THAT`S IT....ME TOO i don`t give my money after all i give in tax ..:squintfin

Yup as already stated I find working myself in a charity structure maximizes my donation. I can either go out and donate 50-100-200 or go out and do nez rouge for a night and raise 400+ or whatever it is. Same with Movember and other charitables situations I do.

I have a tenant who just completed her pastorship. Every week, even though her family doesn't really have a lot, she volunteers at the soup kitchen and during December, she spends a lot of time prepping Christmas baskets for her community. She asked me if I could be flexible for December's rent. I would have said no to anyone but her, it was different. She got two kids and she will get them something for Christmas with that money. I know her husband is there to support her and help the best he can. I think it would make a big difference in the lives of these people if either one of them could spend some quality time with one of their kids. If all four of them love hockey, I would find a a reseller and buy the other two tickets so the whole family could attend.

MR fundraiser for this family? Ill throw in a 5 dollar if we can get a group together. Make it happen dude!

I pay tickets, taxes on gas. I sometimes buy 6/49. Oh yeah, I get buttfucked by Hydro, Fido and Videotron every month. Sometimes I like to get anal raped without lube at the SAQ. Enough Charity.

I like my landlord.

I'm about to start a charity for myself. Fucking student loans and credit cards.

I give my Canadian Tire money. That's about it. I'll let big companies do their share and collect the tax deductions. I say, keep your money, buy gold, silver and platinum.

Most of that charity bullshit is corrupted anyways.

brb laughing at Quebec shithole while I read Le Journal De Montreal taking a shit.

/end rant.

You deserve to be sent to space. One way ticket.

I understand where you're coming from since you regularly bend over for your boyfriend.

What a (weak) comeback! Get your facts straight, next time around.

When you grow up and understand life, you will see that what you wrote just doesn't make sense (for the most part).

Comeback for what? I gave my opinion on the topic and you trolled this: You deserve to be sent to space. One way ticket.
You're administrator? You should give yourself an infraction.

Good job admin. FAIL. You should give yourself an infraction.

Dude, we are talking about CHARITY. YOU complain about how GAS taxes are high... Hydro Quebec, wtf, we have a VERY VERY cheap power source, compared to most countries... SAQ, well, juts stop drinking if you can't afford it. You can find cheaper than Videotron, go out and shop. Fido... Okay, what other company is cheaper? If you find it, take your services there.

Debts and Visa??? What's that to do with Charity?

Most charities are corrupted? I tend to agree. This is why I went out and looked for the ones that are not... Like... Dans la Rue and Le club des petits déjeuners... These are really great organisations.

To me, you are just justifying yourself for not giving back. So yes, someone that ENCOURAGES the others NOT TO GIVE should be sent to space. And yes, one way ticket.

We don't share the same opinion on charity. I pay enough on an individual level. Let the companies give. You're just wasting your money when you could buy gold.

The amount you give is pointless anyways and will not have any impact. Most money you give will never get there anyways.

If it makes you feel better about yourself for a day to give pointlessly, then good for you.

If I were the CEO of a mega corporation, maybe my opinion would differ, but for now, what I give is meaningless.

I encourage others not to give; it will force corporations to give MORE. See what I did there?

I understand your point of view, I just like to play the devil's advocate also known as trolling. hahahaha

We see things differently, that's for sure. i do not know what part did you miss, but there are GOOD places to give and 100% goes there.

when you give yo "Club des petits déjeuners" (but it's getting bigger over time...), or better "Dans la rue" , you can make sure kids will have a meal in the morning to have a good morning start for school. THAT is NOT pointless, the same kid with and without a meal in the morning have a significant impact on it's ability to learn. Education is key to future societies and I truly believe that today's kid's education can make a difference.

The part where you are right, is; let the corporations give to BIG organizations... But smaller organizations only live because of the individuals that give them some money. I also believe that smaller organizations can make a bigger difference than some large organization. BIG companies don't care about smaller organisms because they get no visibility from it; therefore what you "did there" is just murdering the little organizations that strive to give back 100%.

I challenge you to "lose" 2 hours (but see that as an investment) of you precious time of a year span and go talk to someone who works for "club des petis déjeuners" and you will be ashamed forever by what you will discover. I am not talking about TV bullshit with kids crying, I am talking about real life ppl who go every day in schools to deliver something to eat, that comes 100% from donations. Of course, this organization is growing and now have major partners, but still... It started small and the administration is pretty well done.

If you feel like trolling, as you say, I encourage you to not do so with topics like this one... But... between you and I, feel free to troll this thread: http://www.montrealracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=740629

Your idea of giving away hockey tickets is nice, but not the way to go.

Auction them off (It won't be against rules if the proceeds go to charity) and then donate to a worthy cause.

I give change to the homeless on the streets, donate food to tim hortons collections and to any organization who bothers to put a spot at a wallmart or Canadian tire.
Thinking of sponsoring a child in a 3rd world country as well.
