Official Auto Show 2011 Interior Quality Thread

You're spot on for the most part.

The Jetta was bad, but not as bad as I expected.
Grand Cherokee was a nice place to be, some secondary plastics were so-so
Subaru WRX was just nasty
The Fiat 500 was cheap, but had a nice design, reflects the price difference with the Mini.
IS-F was well built but boring as hell inside, plane-jane interior
Jag XFR had one of the nices interiors at the show
Benz has some good and some bad, not so impressive.

Come on !!!

Fais mieux.

One of the best interiors at the show.

Unless you've sat in it, you can't say anything.

The challenger is great, never expected that from dodge. The driving position is great, the shifter and clutch feel good, very surprised.
The Jag XFR had one of the nices interiors at the show
My favorite is the Benz C300, very stylish, didn't try the high end ones, no cash to afford them anyways.
Ford focus is very surpringly nice, the gauge position sucks though and the handles are cheap as hell.
The Volt interior is very cool and comfy, the drivetrain is garbage though, not sure about the viability of that project
Infiniti is ok, lexus is ok, nothing special there.

BMW, cheap as hell biggest dissapointement.
Audi, meh ok, just like my 10 yr old allroad.
wrx, cheap as hell.
Lincoln, garbage
Cadillac, nice build but 0 ergonomics, hated it.
Fiat 500, mini, disgusting, especially the white plastics in the fiat.
Saab is 20 years behind in terms of interior.
Won't talk about the 2slow jetta, it's not a VW anymore

Agree with you about the XFR.....stunning interior. The dome lights are motion activated, sick!

We are both saying they are cheaply made, how is that 100% disagreeing with me? lol I said the design looks nice, but the quality of the materials is terrible.

well then im agreeing with you except on the looking nice part.

did anyone see the interior of the c63 ( i know it was a podium car) it was actually really amazing, you felt like a baby in a crib in those seats, the leather had a stamp at the headrest because it was a limited edition with flat paint, black leather seats with red stitching, the LCD screen that opens out of the dash when you hit the radio on button, had carbon fiber trim.. ill get a crappy cell pic up later..

So interiors for 2011:

Subcompacts:
new Chevrolet Sonic - nicest in class both design and quality wise
Fiat 500 - decent interior quality, nice design, but not nearly enough to excuse the price and the hype and I agree with the observation someone else made, the dash was kinda high which made it seemed trucky from inside
2012 Accent - surprisingly awesome although I liked the Sonic a little bit better, the new Accent is definitely a very close second
Scion xD - decent interior, I really like this little car actually but it's a bit expensive

The rest are not new: Fiesta - decent, Fit - nice, Yaris - crappy/decent, Mini - decent, Versa - crappy/decent, Aveo - crappy/decent, Accent - crappy, Rio - crappy

Compacts:

Jetta - not new to me since I tried it before as most know, I was about to buy one but yeah, crappy crappy crappy, at least interior design wise it's decent

Elantra - very impressed with this car. But since we're on the interiors topic I have to say the new Elantra has not evolved much interior wise. In terms of materials I found it was even maybe a downgrade compared to the old generation or on the same level. Interior design is very spaceshipy which is a hate it or love it kinda thing, I love it.

2012 Focus - Hats off to Ford here. Best in class. But it comes at a price and unfortunately I don;t think a more quality interior is worth the extra cash compared to other similar cars.

Cruze - not quite as good as the Focus but still, very good.

Scion xB - below avg, same goes to the TC.

The rest, nothing new:
Mazda 3 - Nice, Sentra - decent, Corolla - decent (CE/S)/nice(LE), Civic - crappy/decent, Forte - nice, Soul - nice, Cube - decent, SX4 - decent, Impreza - decent, Matrix - crappy/decent, Golf - nice, Caliber - crappy/decent, Focus ('11) - decent

Luxury compacts

Nothing new:
A3 - nice, C30/S40/V50 - decent, B200 - crappy, CSX - crappy

Mid-size:

Regal -
Very nice. Has a euro feeling (obviously since it's a rebadged Opel Insignia) and just an overall very nice interior, superior to the Malibu.

200/Avenger - Nice improvement but still no cigar.

No other newcomers:
Fusion - nice, Malibu - nice, Camry - nice, Accord - decent, Sonata - nice, Passat CC - nice, Altima - nice, Mazda 6 - decent, Kizashi - nice

Mentions from other classes:

Jag XFR - Thumbs up to Jag for letting people in their 90K+ cars. Thumbs down to Saab for not even letting people in the 9-3...Seriously? The XFR interior is above pretty much anything else out there.

Jag XJ - If in the market for a full-size luxury barge, this would be it. Beautifully crafted interior and even if raw material quality is similar to the Lexus LS and Audi A8, the other two "perfect cars" in this class, the XJ's interior has so much clas and charisma it makes the other 2 look like 2 appliances. A work of art.

Grand Cherokee - awesome evolution. I was really impressed with the interior of this SUV, compared to others in the class of course.

Durango (Citadel) - same as the GC

new 5-series - better than before but still dissapointing when looking at the price tag and the competition. Worst in class together with the new E-Class (if for the 5 series it is an improvement for the E it is a downgrade, column shifter...WTF were they thinking) which had a dissapointing interior as well. Looks old and bland, quality seems unequal (some stuff feels good some bad), does not say "i'm an 90K luxury sedan"

new M - very very nice, as I thought, but still lagging a little bit in certain fit and finish details behind the A6, GS and XF, the best in this class.

Equus - I was dissapointed by the interior of the Equus personaly. I find the materials and design in the Genesis sedan much more upscale like. It's not bad by any means, the car looks good (like a bigger genesis) but I found certain interior details showing it's Hyundai roots pretty obviously.

New Ford Edge and Explorer - Absolutely loved their interiors. Almost all buttons where one touch, felt very solid overall.

new Charger/300 - Huge improvement so now only slightly behind the competition. The Taurus & Genesis are kings in this class.

new S60 - like the interior, like the car overall actually, but it didn't blow me away and am I the only one that finds the tailights having the same design style as the Civic sedan?

Sonata Hybrid - loved this one as well. The front grill is an acquired taste but the interior is really awesome. Great sound system too.

Mitsubishi RVR - This is the new Jetta of the small SUVs. Looks good, from a far everything seems fine with the interior but when u get closer: surprise....crappy crappy crappy

Kizashi - I did the test-drive as well. Very surprising car. Nice interior, smooth, fairly quiet, decent AWD system (not like the Subaru but you can turn it off when you want)

Awards:

Best of Show - returning champion Jaguar XJ (too bad I did not see the interiors for the RR Ghost and the Aston Martin Rapide)

Worst of show - returning "champion" for like the 5th year in a row, Smart 4-2

Biggest surprise (positive) - Chevrolet Sonic, Sonata Hybrid, Ford Explorer, Jeep Grand Cherokee

Biggest dissapointment - MB E-class
