BMW M3 Sportswagon

No questions asked, this would sale out in no time irrespective of the shrinking middle class. Enthusiasts would pick this up, for the common family there are minivans and sav's. I don't see it as a family car, I see it as an alternative to the 4-door M3.

The problem is the M3 Sedan isn't selling well at all.

Taken from http://www.bimmerfile.com/2011/02/02/bmw-m-gmbh-sales-significantly-higher-in-2010/#more-10250

As expected the M3 lead the way in sales. Worldwide, 5,729 units of the BMW M3 Coupé were sold, to which were added 2,544 units of the BMW M3 Convertible and 1,843 BMW M3 Saloons. Sales of the BMW X5 M and BMW X6 M totalled 2,778 and 3,082 respectively.

It’s a bit of a shock to see the sedan only sell 1,843 compared to the X6 M which sold close to twice that. Clearly M knew what they were doing when they made the decision to break their own rules and create the new high performance SAVs.

Note that these are worldwide numbers. You can be sure that in the North American market the ratio of M3 Coupes to Sedans is even greater in favor of the Coupe. Unfortunately I don't see how anyone can justify an M3 wagon outselling an M3 sedan in our neck of the woods.... backed by "enthusiasts" or not.

CTS-V Wagon, ZR1 engine, Recaros....just nuts !
