installation Headers sur E46

Euh what ?

If you want more sound don't go with headers, if you want more torque and more horsepower then you go for headers, headers on a stock system WILL NOT sound louder, might actually be a bit more quieter, I've heard headers on the e46sb30 on a stock system, no drone, very quiet, but it pulls harder at low speeds


To have a properly tuned system you would need the filter, the headers, a proper exhaust and a dme tune, and maybe, JUST maybe you would look at a 40hp increase
 
i wanted headers for performance not sound lol.. i dont want anything LOUD i want performance and discreat as much as possible.

Im sorry but where do you obtain youre mis guided Info from , Headers will open the restricted airflo there for It will give you more sound , Secondly EBAY headers can be a bit of a bitch because you loose some low end torque . Ps not to mention youre 02 sensors will go off very so often thats If you add some 02 sims youre problems will be headache free.

Youre probably saying well jeez Paolo , Active swears bye It , Did Active also tell you (IF SPOKEN TO THEM) That having there bolt ons makes all the diff ?If youre not rocking any ACTIVE bolt on hence Full catback system and all the other whistles and bells Its not worth It.

What you really want Is to make nice with some guy whos been working on BMWS his hole life , What you could yeild some hp out of is getting it tuned(not a generic tune , a "individual" tune)

An individual tune optimizes the engines set ignition/fuel maps so that they work the best with your components / fuel.(the higher octane fuel you use the more advanced your ignition can be , thus increasing the tourque and hp of the engine.)
Optimizes in fueling will make your car burn the fuel more efficient(the stock dme tends to run the car a little rich, which can be leaned out for more power)

Being said 40 hp will never happen the most youll gain from these bolt on mods will be a mere 15 hp , If youre lucky , If you want real gains FI Is the way to go.


Sorry If I sound like an ass but Ive read countless threads In regauards to ECU"S REMAPPING EBAY HEADERS and all of the above , Im not saying that you wont feel youre car chirp but you wont begaining as much as every one states.

Call these guys (link provided below) and ask them any question you want , Im sure theyll tell you we can do this and that and bla bla , Ill belive It when I see actuall dyno sheets.

Euh what ? Have you read my post ? I was talking about a header on a STOCK system, the sound will not change much, might actually be quieter, all I said that even if you add a high flow air filter, a header and a properly built exhaust and get it tuned you MIGHT get a 40hp out of it,

As for headers alone on a stock system there are multiple dyno sheets prooving that there's an easy 15-20 hp and 20-25 lbs of torque being freed and this without the tune, as for the loss of low end, i also stated that higher, i've seen too many times theese honda ricers wannabe's putting on 3.5" of exhaust tubing and then wondering why they have burnt valves...,

I agree with you on the whole line, i've been in this game for a while now...but all depending on engines, headers will or will not make more sound, On an inline 5 Vortec 4200 a header make the truck sound like a toyota corrola with a momo muffler, the same header with a different flange on a supra makes it growl...

You need a tune to get any gains from headers after. Are you going straight pipe or you running cats? I can do the install.

Honda's...toyota's not even if it were given to me i would touch it...But i can tell you that by just changing to a UK spec firmware you get an extra 20hp and about 15 lbs of torque without changing anything, go to a stage 2 uk firmware and there's an extra 30hp right there, this has been beaten to death on bimmerforums and e46fanatics, the headers alone without a tune get you about 15-20 hp on a stock system, get a good exhaust system built around the header for a poper scavenging effect and there's some extra ponies, the air filter is a joke, imo it's more for sound and looks than actual gains, Remember I am talking about the m54sb30 engine here, the 2.5l is anemic by default.
 
If you remove both resonators and the last muffler it will be pretty loud.. Not crazy loud but it could be too much.
If i were you id start by removing the second res and see how you like it since its very cheap to do.

I think next for me is shark or AA tune to get rid of the gas pedal lag..
 
ive read alot about Shark and its alot easier to install just a simple plug and play. AA i think u need to ship out your ECU and they tune it and send it back. Am gonna go with ESS and send out my ECU because am gonna go alot of bolt on such as headers etc so i want custom tune with max performance.
 
Ok guys , Let me clear the air here , due to a lack of misguided Info , Ill be saving you the headaches and troubles.

There Is no point In getting any software for youre ecu If you dont have the very following , CAI,HEADERS,CAMS,PULLEYS,CATBACK EXHAUST (CAT DELETE).

Many have adressed that theyd like a little more growl withought spending extra dollars..Youre option Is a 2nd res delete.

Many have said I dont want It to be to loud..again option 2nd res delete.

Moving on to HEADERS....
Theres basically 2 choices
Being the very well known EBAY HEADERS reason there called EBAY HEADERS there purchased off ebay.
The ever so famous and extrmly expensive SS (SUUPERSPRINT)

Pros and cons of headers
PROS 2 EBAY HEADERS
CHEAP
Great queality for a fraction of the price.
CONS 2 EBAY HEADERS
The O2 sensors are miss placed ( Requires you to relocate the positioning)
Wrong ones sent.

SUPER SPRINT
Pros:
Perfect fit , Great quality.
CONS:
Over priced.

Fast forward a bit....
Any HEADERS will def help youre car , Keep In mind youre alowing more air flow , Youll get some what of a rasp noise , But dont think youll gain god knows what In HP.
Prepare to have a check engine light every 100 kms and less , Prepare youre self as well to change the 02 sensors (100$ PLUS)due to Its age (Ill bet any one there"s bound to be 2 to break)
5 hour Install....

In conclusion are you prepared to spend all that money for a 50 dollar Item ? If so point me to the money tree :)

Just get a UUC TSE3 forget the headers, trust me you will be satisfied. Its loud when you push it but no drone what so ever.. high quality !
 
I think i'm gonna order ebay headers too this week..

The power gains look pretty nice, although the install looks a bit complicated.
