When you pay for a detail, you expect everything to be detailed. I don't care how long it takes the guy, what he does, I want the car to look as close to new as possible. What price he quotes me is completely up to him. He should've told me 500 for the job, and then i would've taken my business elsewhere.

I think the main problem here is the lack of communication between both parties. I think you were expecting much more than what you paid for and unfortunately, didn't know enough about the subject when you contact him. It's pretty hard for someone to quote an exact price without seeing the car in person.

VinceGTI explanations are pretty good at explaining why you didn't get what you were expecting for. On the other hand, maybe Alex should have been more transparent about the job he was going to do (saying what he would have clean and what he would not do). I think its not fair to compare Alex work's without any other benchmark. For example, if you went to Steve's car wash or to CelicaGTS for a detail before and paid the same amount and got a better job, then you could clearly say that Alex underperformed, by if the opposite would happen, you would have certainly been happy with Alex job's and wouldn't bash about it since the job he did would be above average.

I agree with some people that the bashing is not really fair towards him and I think you got more than what you paid for. Don't forget that a regular wash, clay and wax goes for around 80$, a interior clean up with an extractor for 150$ and a engine wash for 100$. On top of that you got a 2 step polish.

My advice to others, when you contact someone for detailing, if possible, go see them with the car and explain everything you want to be done in order to get a fair price from the start.

next time DIY and STFU. End of thread

I can say with 100% certainty Steve's is of equal quality or better to CobrAAA's at a lesser price.

I know MTV personally, and I'm sure he would've done a better job.

So in you ubber magnificence, you pretty much knew that all your "friends" and everyone and their mother would do a better job but still picked the lowest bidder instead of giving work to someone you knew????

You are one cheap class act... Btw Sans-zo is giving free samples in another thread.

Ok tu prétend bien connaître MTV,mais tu sais pas qi'il fait du detailing... Moi je connais toutes les danseuses de l'ïle de Montréal par leur prénom. :D

My cheap Hyundai did not set me back financially so bad that I had to resort to cheap E-tugging after being butt hurt by the lowest bidder's work quality.

He started only recently. Oh, I'm sure he's not good enough for your awesome STI.

Great mind thinks alike. Wanna adopt a kid together?

I payed him what he quoted me :)

This thread is becoming fucking ridiculous, it's clear that the point was not to bash anyone, it was a review. If you're not posting to comment on the work that was done, then shut your damn mouth about BOTH parties, no reason to bash Alex, or to call polak a whiny bastard. Neither of those are the case. I know both of these guys IRL, and they are both good people.

Now, I know Alex does great work, as we have all seen by his pics. Every once in a while though, for whatever the reason be, not every job is perfect. That is CLEARLY not what polak is upset about. I think the problem here is that miscommunication caused:

a) Polak to be unsure of what he was getting.

b) Alex to feel pressured / rushed to complete the job.

Regardless, I saw the car after the job was completed, and I understand why polak is upset. Don't get me wrong, the paint work is great, the interior is clean, and the motor looks awesome. But I did see signs of this being a rushed /disgruntled job, and there was indeed leftover wax in certain areas / seams.

HAving said that, I don't agree with the way this was handled. I think that on one hand, Polak could have confronted Alex with his concerns, and settled this privately, and perhaps create a thread if the issue was not resolved. However, I don't think what he did was wrong, since he did not anywhere comment negatively about Alex or his work, and all you people going bologna sandwich about this and flaming polak need to get a fucking grip. It's a review, and everyone is entitled to their damn opinion, so STFU. On the other hand, I think some of Alex's responses were unprofessional, especially one of the more recent ones. Tbh, this whole situation is kinda messed up.

Anyway, I think a little more professionalism by both parties would make things easier to settle in the future. I just want to emphasize that i feel it's not the QUALITY of the work, per se, that Polak was upset with, it was the way it was all handled.

Imo, a mod needs to lock this up, because it's becoming a flame war instead of the review it was intended to be. Clean it up, lock it up, and let people think what they want about it.
