I'd honestly rather have a low key/small car show with awesome rides that would eventually turn into something big if it were to catch on!
My goal and possibly yours is not about winning a trophy or even showing off my ride but just hanging out with some down to earth guys and chatting about our rides and complimenting one and other. Kind of like jdm mondays but more personal, less hate and more open minded-ness.
Come to think about it, on a large scale my idea would never work, only as a small select group that would require hand-picking/screening.
An alternative would be to create a group/crew of guys who share like minded ideas such as yourself or I. Then either enter next year for fun to promote an open mindedness to car tuning by showing off the ideal depiction of a car based on our understandings/likings of style vs functionality. Basically all the "show cars" which are for fun and then a section of "real show cars" which entail usable cars that look sleek, cool while remaining very useable on a day to day basis. The show cars of the real world.
As long as we don't undermine the cars that are at importfest (since we are saying any form of modding is acceptable by contrasting the cars around us with our very usable subtly modded daily drives) then I'd say its doable. It would be a fun idea since it brings the idea of a "car show" back to reality when real life cars are shown. Kind of like: "this is a show car meant only for shows so you will never see it on the road, however this in fact is driven daily, has functionality and still looks good"
Yes I know my ideas are far fetched and we are all too busy and/or lazy to put them into practice but the novelty associated with thinking of these ideas is fun
