Event Coverage: Importfest

Worst 27$ ever spent including the 9$ parking price, tons of riced out cars, at least Unitronic was there with some of the 2LO crew to showcase some proper rides, props to the stretch and poke crew also, It was great to speak with Sam about his nice 1M that is almost stock and still better looking than 90% of what was there. I loled when I saw cod3 blackops for sale in the MR boot :D

Some more great pics of Saturday's show.

The black benz was really nice dannys pic didn't do it much justice, mines only a cell phone pic so it's not the greatest but still....

who was partying with the girls in the MR shirts on saturday?
<----- this guy

Got ass girls I love them allllllll

So, just throwing this idea out there to see if it gains any interest...

If we've all built cars that suit our own tastes, and we don't want to enter them in a show for fear of being laughed at (because we don't look as modded as the typical show cars), what if next year we all entered our cars in the show? After all, the show costs $18 to visit as a spectator, and what, maybe $40 to register? And we've seen already in this thread there are at least a few guys who entered cars thinking they would never have a chance of winning anything and they did win something... Maybe it's worth a shot? Maybe we'd be starting a new trend to bring "real" cars to big car shows?

I'd honestly rather have a low key/small car show with awesome rides that would eventually turn into something big if it were to catch on!

My goal and possibly yours is not about winning a trophy or even showing off my ride but just hanging out with some down to earth guys and chatting about our rides and complimenting one and other. Kind of like jdm mondays but more personal, less hate and more open minded-ness.

Come to think about it, on a large scale my idea would never work, only as a small select group that would require hand-picking/screening.

An alternative would be to create a group/crew of guys who share like minded ideas such as yourself or I. Then either enter next year for fun to promote an open mindedness to car tuning by showing off the ideal depiction of a car based on our understandings/likings of style vs functionality. Basically all the "show cars" which are for fun and then a section of "real show cars" which entail usable cars that look sleek, cool while remaining very useable on a day to day basis. The show cars of the real world.

As long as we don't undermine the cars that are at importfest (since we are saying any form of modding is acceptable by contrasting the cars around us with our very usable subtly modded daily drives) then I'd say its doable. It would be a fun idea since it brings the idea of a "car show" back to reality when real life cars are shown. Kind of like: "this is a show car meant only for shows so you will never see it on the road, however this in fact is driven daily, has functionality and still looks good"

Yes I know my ideas are far fetched and we are all too busy and/or lazy to put them into practice but the novelty associated with thinking of these ideas is fun :)

That's exactly what I was thinking, but didn't know how to put it into words. I don't have high (or any, in fact) expectations for such a movement to take hold, but maybe it could gain traction? If you're even slightly interested in trying this, maybe we could start a thread to see if we could attract other like-minded people.
