Is 4-matic the real deal or just another bogus all wheel drive gimmick?

The C300 seems to be always spinning around with the recent road conditions, yes it has four snows and wondering if any other MB owners are in the same boat.

I was wondering the same thing, kuz im JUST looking for my next car and the C350 4matic was in my list of choice. Would be nice to know if the 4MATIC do a REAL job in the snow.

afaik 4matic is 3 open diffs (front, center and rear) controlled by the ABS/ESP system. If a wheel spins, the brake is applied on it to transfer the power to the other non-spinning wheels

i had a 2010 c300 4matic, was working very properly in the snow... sold it to my dad and he likes it very much. he has so 17'' general altimax artic with studs and says it handles way better then his 2008 Grand cherokee 3.0Lcrd trail rated with the same tires

4MATIC is awesome and its defenalty something you want on a Mercedes...
If I push the throttle hard on my truck there's a small hesitation (Because of the anti-slip I leave ON) if their is a considerable amount of snow on the road but after that the power is delivered and traction feel almost like its on direct asphalt!
It work so good, most of time you wont notice it and the only manner to know that the 4MATIC work perfectly is when you see other car having a really bad time almost everywhere and starting way more slowly than you!

One thing you have to keep in mind is that you cant tow a 4MATIC normally...I mean you cant do it if only the rear wheel touch the ground.
4MATIC need to be towed by platform only. You probably wont ever need towing but just in case you will know.
