For those of you who may not know, there have been major issues concerning the Nurburgring over the past couple of years.
In 2007 the German government decided to create an amusement park in the town of Nuremberg with support from two major tycoons (who play a key role in the demise of the ring)
After the completion, in 2009, the park was a huge bust and actually used fake visitor numbers in order to maintain funding. Instead of canceling the project and shutting down the park, they rented the investment to the same two tycoons that originally helped fuel the creation in the first place. It's important to note, this has caused over 350 million euros in debt from the tax payers of germany...
As a result, to compensate for the financial losses, HUGE premiums were created in order for the automotive industry to use the track and a 5x increase in ticket price for tourists to go out and have that memorable hot lap.
These two have also had numerous schemes, including non automotive related events while still under license of the name Nurburgring.
This is ruining the iconic racetrack for what it stands for. Less and less enthusiast are making the trip down, due to the high ticket prices and major corporations that used the track have all pulled their teams as well, only being replaced by higher paying companies.
The Nurburgring is not meant to be a money pig, it is more then that. It is an iconic racetrack, it has a rich history and it is a way of life for automotive fans all around the world. With the ownership in the hands of these two baboons, it is losing everything it stands for and as auto enthusiasts, we shouldn't sit by and let this happen. Even Sabine Schmit has left the scene in disgust for what has happened (for those who follow Jalopnik)
However, the reason why I am posting this now is because there has finally be a positive update concerning the Nurburgring.
The two tycoons (Kai Richter, Jörg Lindner) have been fired as Nurburgring operators and all events and contracts (all the corporate bs that they booked) has been canceled!!!!
Hopefully this is the first big step of many, in reclaiming back this iconic green hell.

This is an old video I posted but this is EXACTLY what the Green Hell should stand for: raw, pure, action packed racing with the die hard enthusiasts feet away from the action.
