Well if you paid the taxes, then your entitle to a receipt, like eaten food is refundable anyways, but you can always use it for a company claim or income tax if you are self employed ! ...LoL

Most Asian restaurants that give you a hand written amount is like saying you don't need to pay taxes, because they trust you and you don't work for the government.

I am not specifically shitting on welfare recipients, but as you know welfare recipients tend to be a certain nationality which I won't name, if you are not one of them you welfare application will never get approved even if you worked all your life, while the other fuck who is 18 and has never worked a day in his life is approved for welfare !

When the City of Montreal wanted it cops to collect more taxes, they bought them barcode readers with faster ticket printing machines with our tax dollars, why should it any different for restaurant owners that have to pay out of their own pockets.

Actually,

1- All restaurants where informed over 2years prior of the new legislation.

2- the government had a cashback insentive of up to 100% depending on when you had the new blackboxes installed, we got 80% back from the 4K$ it cost us because we did it before a certain date.

3- No POS system is 30grand for the common one cash resto. Maitre D wich is at the top of the list is 6K$ for the system with one POS and 1500$ for each extra POS.

Basically, some smart ass owners thought they could just ignore the legislation, realized it didnt fly, and now they complain its costing money to be legit.....you had two f$%?& years and money back for your expense....cry me a river!

And for the waiters, some double and triple they're hourly wage with tips, its a revenue like any other and they are obliged to declare a minimum of 8% of they'Re sales in tip. When was the last time you tipped a waiter 8%? When a waiter makes 60K$ a year, more then a manager or even some owners, why should they only pay taxes on 20K$? They special?
 
Btw, what scares the restaurant owners is not the box itself, but the big difference in sales compared to the previous year. That's why some takeout places now close on sundays hoping the loss of revenue on that day will balance out with the now non-hidden sales. Some have stopped delivery, many have closed all together.

The thing is, if you have an over average increase in sales, chances are you will get verified and they will go back up to 5 years.
 
And FYI, I am not pro tax and agree that the damn welfare system is a joke, but if I'm getting fucked, everyone else should to....lol

So ?, then why aren't waiters paid even "minimum wage" ?, tips are what the customers give, its not from payroll, in the end it should be up to the waiters if they want to report it or not, now go ask that beggar on the corner of the street why he doesn't declare his earnings !

Depends on where they work apparently. My wife's salary actually decreases on the more profitable weeks she gets. if she brings home over 800$ in tips in one week, her weekly salary is affected.

These idiots crying about resto's paying for welfare recipients, when our income taxes are ridiculous, our property taxes are ridiculous. My friends own a resto and the cash register cost 3000$ and the government paid half of it.. It ended up costing 1500$ and the thing is tax deductible if i'M not mistaking.

Some can easily take home $200 cash in tips every night they work! I know a waitress at McKibbons' West Island who made a fucking car payment once with one night's worth of cash tips!!

And btw, restaurants in Chinatown charge you "tax" and fucking pocket it if you pay with bills (azns you know this to be true). Some place have different menus with higher prices for Gweilo :squintfin.

Exactly. Owning a restaurant sucks in Quebec now. no money to be made. Try to go to Olimpico to have a coffee. Waiting for those fucking receipts, it's a huge time waster, especially for a bar that has the turnaround they do. The government keeps trying to grab as much cash as it possibly can from everyone. Fuck that.

in another note, I dont ask and never ask for a receipt in a restaurant because seriously, between the resto owner and the QC gov making more money, I'll give it to the resto owner. Screw paying sh*t tons of taxes.
 
Well to me, the resto charging me taxes and not paying them and keeping them for himself is worse then the gouv charging me taxes. At least my taxes pay for social services and corrupt politicians as opposed to makmouds trinkets and more dresses for his wife. Don't charge me tax and keep it for yourself, because I will rat. That's bullshit. Some places used to give you 15% off if you picked it up and paid cash, that I understand and wouldn't denounce.

Even though its not from a payroll its considered income.
Self-employed people are not on a payroll yet the money they make is income that they need to declare.
 
Waiters get tips because resto owners are to cheap to pay them a proper wage so they use customers to supplement their incomes. Go to other countries like australia, there is no tipping and a waiter makes a decent wage.
