internet provider + tv provider

but downloading 250gb on videotron is going to cost you like $30-50 more per month...

and you don't need to A) rent a modem or B) buy the modem from them, then it costs only $20. but modems for docsis 3 are about $100 everywhere

I'm not arguing about the service beating Videotron's senseless, I'm just saying it's not the whole picture. Plus I don't know where they get off charging you 20$ for using your own. If you buy you own modem at 100$ it'll come out more costly in the end because you have to pay them a useless fee so it's 100$ +20+ 50 for install. Anyways, year 2 and on however is amazing.

i dunno where you got the 20$ fee for using ur own modem cause im not paying that. i paid 100$ for the modem , 50 for instal 50 for the first month. Next month im paying 50$ monthly fee and that's it .

Or you can buy the modem from them, at $99 for Docsis 3.0 modem, and $50 setup.

You only pay the $20 if you don't buy the modem from them AND don't rent it.

oh and if you want to save on shipping for the modem, go pick it up in Longueuil.

You're missing my point. Either way, whether it's:

1) Renting 12*10$+50$ = 170$
2) Buying from them 99$+15$+50$= 164$
3) Buying it from a store 80-150$ +20$+50= 150-220$

You need to factor in those costs, it's not JUST 54.95/month..... that's all I'm saying. As far as my problem with the 20$ own modem, i mean why is there a surcharge. What they need to pay the technician 20$ more for plugging a coaxial cable into a different modem??? It's a sucker punch charge because you didn't give them the business to make a profit on the hardware. I'd still go with them though.

Because Videotron TPIA stipulates that even if you change from Videotron to Electronicbox(or Teksavvy, or anyone else that uses Videotron TPIA), Videotron must "dispatch" a technician to make the change(whether they come to your house or not is irrelevant, the change can be made at the node or computerized). This costs an install fee. That fee is $85. Electronicbox charges $50 for the install if you buy a modem with them, otherwise $70 if you don't. Either way, they kinda lose money on the install.

I have that service but the tgv30 250Gig. My first bill was 200$ ( 50 first month, 50 instal , 100$ modem). I was paying 66.5$ with videotron for the same service but 120Gig download.

The way i see it is like so , 66.5 * 12 months = 798$ videotron

57* 11 months + 200$ first month payment = 827$ elec box.

On the second year tho you will still pay 800$ with videotron but 684$ with elec box and you get 250gig download with them instead of 120.

No mater how you look at it elec box is giving a better deal then videotron for the same service

but if i rage quit videotron and now they want me to give a deposit to get them again (i took time to pay the cancel fees because i moved and they sent the bill at the old adress long story) does electro box ask for deposit too? i'm moving in july for now i'm with bell from the appart under me (yes they know i pay 50/50 with them) and would like to use something faster and with more go :dunno:
