** JDM AUTO DEPOT - my personal experience **

Hello fellow MR members, I would just like to share my experience I had today at JDM Auto Depot... a sponsor on these forums.

I purchased a set of coilovers for a Soarer two months ago, and I only had time to install them yesterday because my car has been in storage.

Long story short, the coilovers that I bought and from what I was told belonged to a Soarer didn't fit and actually belonged to an Aristo. Reason why I know is because the rear end of my Soarer sitting at the lowest setting is probably double the height of what the car was stock.

I walked into the store and showed him the pictures of what my car looks like and how the suspension wasn't made for my car. He then tried to convince me that in Japan, they called the "Aristo" a "Soarer" ... I tried telling him that they weren't for the Soarer, and he keeps telling me otherwise. He also tried arguing that he doesnt know what I did to my car and that might be why I have that problem..

Basically, I argued with him for a whole hour trying to explain to him that the coilovers weren't made for the car. I kept getting a run around of excuses.
When I told him that it was "HIM" he sold me the coilovers, he said no.. It was "I" who bought them? I walked into the store asking for coilovers for the Supra and the Soarer. I was sold a set of coilovers made for the Aristo, is this my fault? He also said that I took too long with the coilovers to tell him, and it's no longer his responsibility. I never said I wanted to exchange them, I just wanted to buy another set.

I personally think that it was extremely frustrating experience *td*

I slammed the door on my way out and he then came out screaming at me with racial remarks and calling me a "stupid mother fucker". Also said that this isn't China (since I'm of an asian ethnicity) and he could find me and kill me. Walked towards me with his fists raised as he was furious and told me he could re-arrange the map of my face ..

JDM AUTO DEPOT is situated on 10785 Racette. I would stay away from this shop.

BONUS MATERIAL

While I was arguing with him about the coilovers, he was busy trying to fish out pieces of a broken spark plug that had fallen into the engine with a string and a metal rod. He was unsuccessful at removing all the pieces and then proceeded to try to flush out the pieces with a hose spraying water into the crank case of the engine. I don't know if this is the best way ?? ... Hope noone buys that engine cause I guarantee they didn't take it apart and ensure that the pieces were removed.

Will upload the picture of that tonight..

My friend also bought a set of coilovers from this shop. He found out they were blown soon after. He went back there to get his money back, but the guy did not want anything to do with this. The guy at the shop actually called the police on my friend because he was being 'insistant' and feared of his life.

Yeah right. And he never got his money back. Moral of the story: be careful when buying used parts :p

When you guys will learn...NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER buy at any JDM shop EXCEPT if you really know your stuff or you are with someone that know about the part you are buying and ALSO CHECK if the part is in what condition! I will freakin ask the salesman to sign a freakin paper telling me that the part is IN A WORKING CONDITION or something sort of...

jap shops gon be jap shops. YOU always need to know what YOU are buying. these people (and many business' in general) will tell you whatever you want to hear aslong as they make their sale and get to take YOUR money.

Bought a set of BBS wheels for 340$. Bad tires, but wheels were in good shape, with right bolt pattern, and straight.

Going buying experience from Osaka... But I knew what I was searching for...

These guys are scum. I bought a motor from them a while back and the next day I realized the timing belt was broken. I found the guy and the only way He agreed to exchange my motor if I payed 100$ extra for a transmission I didn't need. All this to say that their customer service sucks.

Also If I started my own JDM shop and didn't pull doochebaggery like this would you guys buy from me? Cuz in a couple of years maybe I might get a warehouse going.

It all depends on how you handle your business.

I do like to believe that. Though many customers do try to take you for a ride, that I'm not down with.

Don't worry about that, in any business ppl try to rip you off. Having good store policy and maybe a lawyer friend can go a long way in stopping the haters. I'd like to think that the scammers are a minority anyway.

JDM shop = scrap yard stuff from Japan which = scrap yard is always scrap yard no matter which country of origin!!!!
Happy shopping !

Do have a written or printed bill telling you bought these coilovers at this shop, and the amount you paid? Is it written on it: no refund under no circumstance?

You could try Protection du Consommateur if you have a bill.

No bill = no legal to ensure you get what you paid for because you LEGALLY didn't paid the taxes, thus you won't get any help from a service that works with our taxes.

Good Luck!

Not the first thing I've heard about them, but I haven't dealt with them to be able to comment. Hopefully you get this sorted out, although I don't think those kind of threats are really that professional!
