Hey, I still have mags on my car. Is it OK to call them mags- even if they made of aluminum?

I know this guy that uses the wrong terminology for EVERYTHING related to cars.
I'm not a picky person when it comes to terminology..except when it comes to cars..then it gets on my nerves.
